Raw and overcast here in NYC, but I couldn't wait to try out my new (to me) Contax C/Y 18mm f/4 Distagon! I'm not generally an ultra-wide guy, but sometimes it is fun. Especially here in NYC.
Right now, everything in "DUMBO" Brooklyn is plastered with ads for the new DUMBO movie. "DUMBO" stands for "Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass", and has NOTHING to do with DUMBO the elephant! haha
Nothing spectacular here but just a few quick shots with my new (to me) Tamron 28-75/2.8. I wanted to try this out mostly because of close focusing ability but failing light only allowed a few quick snaps around the neighborhood. I am quite please by the sharpness of this lens even wide open.
Two more compositions from the Cross of the Martyrs during some nice light. People started to gather around as the light got really good. I didn't want to be that photographer to tell them to move when they were taking their selfies.

On the first image, I got as low as possible and as close as I could to the shrubs. It's a 2 image focus stack. I'm still not 100% happy that the cross is so close to the horizon.
Bon was the ancient Tibetan religion before the arrival of Buddhism in the early 7th century. It became a part of Buddhism in most respects, a little more wild. Devotees do everything in reverse, doing mountain koras counter-clockwise and including the direction of swastikas. 10% of Tibetans are Bon followers, even today. Most Buddhists won't enter their temples.
Was taking a walk around the lake with the 100-400 when I heard the drone of a B-17 overhead. Unfortunately I had my settings dialed in for birding so it basically froze the props, but it's always amazing to see these beasts from the past roar by. This is Nine O Nine, which has a fairly unique history, with some WWII combat missions, some civilian firefighting missions, and a few crashes along the way!
