I find the latest Nokton 50/1.5 ASPH LM to be an outstanding lens on A7/R. It’s small, light, sexy (especially in chrome) and priced just right. Most of all, I like its character the most of my all 50s. It doesn’t rank as #1 in any particular optical quality, but it blends all aspects of performance standing on the top, IMO.
Jack....thanks for the comparison. I think both lenses are pretty close! The VM really stNds out for me though! I haven't compared it to my Summilux R yet, but as if yet, the size, weight, and everything the VM does puts it at the top for my 50's. I love the bokeh...up close it reminds me of the Cron R 35 bokeh. I don't have that one anymore, but looking at shots I had taken previously with the 35, they seem close. And it just has a look to it that I really enjoy! Took a bunch of shots yesterday, and will post more later...
Thanks,
Gregg

I must resist from getting another 50 mm lens, but the samples here seems quite fine.
Recently I got the 50 1.4 Rokkor which seems like a nice lens that is considerably different in rendering style to my 50 Planar and FE 55. It never ends.
The time has come to try some of my Canons FD SSC on the A7.Results are generally very good and similar to those from FDn lenses, but working with older, heavier and more solid SSCs brings about more pleasure.A few of them had to wait 2 years for the first outing.Colours are muted as they were used wide open most of all.
Canon FD SC 135/2.5 - despite older coatings sharpness and contrast are very good, fringing is minimal.
Canon FD 50/1.4 "chrome nose" - as sharp as the one with SSC coatings.Little to no discernible differences in contrast and flare resistance during normal shooting
Canon FD SSC 85/1.2 Aspherical - excellent lens, the class for itself.
Canon FD SSC 55/1.2 - I confess:I like it more than my 58/1.2 MC PG Rokkor.
Canon FD SSC 200/2.8 - at first I wanted to resell it,deterred by pronounced fringing, but I soon realized that they don't appear too often and are easily removable.Sharp, contrasty, lightweight, solid and fast.
Canon FD SSC 100/2.8 - probably my favourite 100mm lens.Very sharp.Great contrast,very little CA.
Canon FD SSC 35/2 - again my favoutite, not Zeiss,35/2 lens for it's very good to excellent overall IQ.
And finally another excellent performer - the FD SSC 24/2.8

Peire, and Shuko...love the pics with the SSC lenses! Peire..really like the 2.5/135 shots...wow! And that 55 1.2 looks incredible, too!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm loving the lenses as well. The 35 was my favorite on my film F-1. On 1Ds2 they were kind of bad. However, on the Sony they are so good. I know, huge difference on the sensors etc., but it's like they've come back to life again.
This was captured during my recent trip to Bryce. The sky was clear at around 4:30am but luckily clouds started to gather around sunrise. The light was incredible and I captured many shots that morning. This is another one and I hope you like it.
Taken with my A7R and Canon 24-70 f/2.8L II. I didn't use any filters are the light was very subtle.
Comments appreciated.
Best,
Fred

Fred, nice location and photo!
Comment/questions about processing:
Is this halo supposed to be there (no mention of HDR etc. what usually causes these)? Also halo left side of foreground rock left from where arrow points:
Also the far away part is very light and blue, did you raise shadows a lot? Specially if it's compared to red "rock" on foreground partially blocking the part which is "too" light and blue.
I have found many times A7(r) photos harder to process than 5DmkII photos due to enormous dynamic range. There is more latitude but sometimes all the dynamic range is really hard to compress it to usable for displays and specially printing. I hope this is just learning curve thing.
Samuli
EDIT: added forgotten "dynamic range" to end of 3rd last sentence.
