Rented an FE 100-400 for a trip this week to Death Valley.
Some test shots of my son. Shot handheld for these. I'm impressed with the sharpness of the lens. For some reason the zoom ring is really tight on this copy.

Additionally, always great work from Joshua (great examples of the 24G wide open!), Helena, Douglas, Picture This! (Nice sodium vapor/sunset balance), and the often overlooked low-chroma/high contrast urban work of Kater1807.

Another of my fall shots: break of showers in Aberdeen.

Thank you, Jim! Your image from Aberdeen is impressive and has a lot of 3-D effect - well done!

My first stab at capturing sport; water sport, that is. The problem is, I was told, the surfers that day were not that good.... What do I know . For sure, the gear didn't have any problems keeping up.

There is an adjustment for this with a narrow ring on the lens. One one end is 'tight' and the other is 'smooth'. Did you check to see where it's set? When set to tight, it helps prevent the lens from zooming accidentally especially when pointed down.
My daughter during her Xmas visit to us in Shanghai from London. A9 and 100-400 at 166mm f5.6. Yongnuo LED panel low left, setting sun for rim light, Godox right and a golden 1m reflector placed under the Godox.

Ah I didn’t know that Bob. I will check it out.
I set mine between both settings so as to not have it too tight or too loose. I set it to the minimum before the lens starts to creep when it is pointed down.

Nice Chuck,
Just curious what day that was. We were going to try and get a sunset there Wednesday night, but we had to go to a dinner party and ran out of time!
I always wonder what time they close the exit gate and if you can get out after the gate is closed.
