Not much to do with photography, but I feel I should share that with you mates, because it moved me somehow.
The piece of poetry from the 13th.written by the prince who ruled my little homeland/heimat at that time.Henryk IV Probus/Henry The VIth The Righteous/Heinrich der Gerechte. The poem was written in a dialect from medieval Brandenburg, where his second wife and her troubadours,or rather minnesänger came from.
Yesterday I was privileged to listened to this song, beautifully sung in the original words, music and instrumentarium,by the gifted artist.
Ich clage dir, meie, ich clage dir, sumerwunne,
ich klage dir, liehtuu heide breit,
ich clage dir, oogebrehender kle,
ich clage dir, gruuner walt, ich klage dir, sunne,
ich klage dir, Venus, senduu leit,
daz mir duu liebe tut so we.
welt ir mir helfen pflihten,
so truwe ich, daz duu liebe muusse rihten
sich uf ein minnekliches wesen.
nu lat uu sin gekundet minen kumber
dur got, unde helfent mir genesen.
Henryk IV Probus was a descendant of the Polish royal family of the Piasts, which included the first kings and princes - founders of Poland. They ruled the Polish lands for about 400 years. The ground of his duchies lay on the border of the influences of Polish, German and Czech culture. As a prince,Henry spoke all these languages, and Latin like every educated man at that time.Being a child he spoke Polish - his mother's lanquage.Because the kingdom of Poland was at that time in the period of feudal partition with no king and clear power center, the ambitious prince have turned towards the Roman emperor of the German nation,in a understandable way seeing in him the hope of expanding his own power. He was even crowned a Senior Prince (Princeps) of Poland in the 1288,but,too ambitious for his enemies,he was poisoned and died at the age of 33.
I like visiting his beautifully carved gothic grave.
R.I.P.
Sleep well my brother prince!
