That's an amazing capture, Joshua! The sharpness and detail is great and the pose is just awesome! Everything came together very well - even the background. Kudos to you and your gear! You should post this on the Nature forum.

Thank you, Werner! And your images, both in color and B&W are always top notch, mein Freund! BTW did you get my PM to you? Please check your PM inbox.
Ronny, thank you! I may sound like a broken record, but I am a fan of your images.
Thank you kindly!

I spent a good part of the morning today evaluating the new FW of the A9, combined with the recently updated MC-11 using my Canon 400mm f//2.8 Mark II lenses. This is the location of a family of peregrine falcons.
I got lucky to be able to capture this using the Zone AF that now works splendidly. I have to say that I am pleased with the results and it would be hard for the new GM 400mm to improve the optical quality of this Canon lens. AF-wise it may have the edge over this setup right now since it is a flagship native FE lens. It would be a tough call to make in 2.5 months from now..... More evaluation needed, for sure. ...Show more →
I spend some days in London. I rented a bike and cycled on the banks of the River Thames. I put some old or rarely used lenses in the backpack and I took some pictures with them
Here's one more of the Vestrahorn in Iceland. Love the grasses on black sand!
Thank you, Bob! Your images from Iceland haven't stopped to be amazing - well done!

I noticed that the AF was less responsive or picked up some contrasty background when I had the TC, the image quality was still there but AF is more crucial in this case. So, I gambled and took off the TC hoping that I could get better and perfectly focused falcons and it did pay off. The wide open shot resulted also in a smoother bokeh on a fairly short distance like that. I got lucky..., again. I did take a few bursts and a few were not quite in perfect focus but there was one in perfect focus with even a smoother bokeh. And yes, I will post a few falcon images there on the N&W board later.
@charles.K
Nice seeing your wonderful images here again, Charles. i hope that we will be treated with more.

Charles that last image really shows the impact of camera phones on photography. I think I count 8 people looking at their phones, most likely reviewing images.
It is great and yet sad. So many people now use images/video clips as the access to smart phones with social media is so easy and fun. I suppose photography in any form is great as we often seen young kids even taking shots to share with their families and friends. Photography has moved away from being an arms length, from getting a camera, film/computer and then print/sharing to being live in the here and now. It is a lot of fun I now often see good photographers on their dedicated shoots for stills and then take small video clips to give and a feel and over all context. Photography is moving in interesting directions now
@MedicineMan404 Thank you! I was trying to hit that creepy vibe, lol. I named her(?) Gertrude, which probably says a lot about me that my mother found this dead Raven head and was carrying it around and then I took it and started taking pictures of it and giving it a name. Unfortunately for my mother it was filled with bugs. She has all kinds of neat things from the desert. She's a bit eccentric, lol. Would have loved to have gotten a photo of her in her original resting place. Found a nice spot in the shade away from the elements for the bugs to ease her transition to bone. God, this is weird, I sound weird. Ah well.
