Despite having previously owned A7r, A7s, A7sII, A7rII - I wasn't really a Sony fan until I got the a7rIII and the new FE 100-400. Wow, just wow! Never seen such quality bokeh & sharpness from a 4x superzoom before, makes me not miss my old 400/5.6L at all! The following picture doesn't exactly show this beautiful background blur that I'm talking about, but a pretty bird I found at arms length in the trees this morning while taking a walk.
Had the pleasure to work with a great South African designer this past week. We shot 4 looks that were all unique.
I went in the water to help the designer get the dress spread out properly and a small wave splashed the rock and my camera got a little wet. All seemed fine until I tried to take the first shot and my lights didn't fire. All weathered the water fine except for the trigger. I wanted to jump in the ocean and swim away!
Fortunately I recently purchased a great little LED light. The Rotolight Neo 2. Happy to say that little light saved the shoot. And I was very lucky there was decent cloud cover. More pics coming soon that show how useful that light can be.
A couple of photos I'd like to share all with the Sony 100-400mm from recent day trip to Tomales Point in Point Reyes National Seashore. Quite a heavy lens to hike around with but by far my favorite zoom lens for the Sony system.
All shot yesterday on the Dingle Peninsula. The first two were with the A7II and an old 20mm f3.5 Nikkor. The final picture is the A7II and an old 180mm f2.8 Nikkor
I went down to the local Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center yesterday to chack out the Osprey nest. The Ospreys were in the nest and didn't leave it while I was there. I'll have to give it a go another day. But there was plenty of bird activity at the refuge and there is this interesting nest area they created at the refuge for song birds.
