In reviewing my images from Old Town Pasadena, I notice I took far more vertical shots than normal. Maybe it had something to do with concentrating on the telephoto cropping of the 70-200L, but it extended into the 24-70L II as well.
Here's a quick potpourri of verticals. Not all are "hits," but not all are "flops" either.
These are from the beginning of the shoot for each lens.

FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS + 1.4X Teleconverter
Just acquired the 1.4 Teleconverter after watching Werner use it in Tuscany and becoming convinced that it kept the sharpness of the incredible FE 100-400. This shot was taken this evening just before sunset from my front yard where I can see the Olympic Mountains on a clear day, even though they are about fifty miles away. No problem at 560mm with additional cropping. Amazing technology!
Yes, the GM 100-400mm lens is wonderful for just about everything and adding the 1.4X TC doesn't seemingly decrease the both the AF and IQ performance. Nice capture of the Olympic Mountains there!
Did you use a Canon or Sony 14.X teleconverter for this image?
Thanks.
Rich
Hi Rich, I used a Canon 1.4X to take that image. IMHO, there is no difference in AF performance nor in optical performance between the two methods. That would be my first choice to extend the FL and it was done more so as my typical operation over anything else.
