Amazing series from Indonesia, Joshua. Were those people in some of the pictures "models for hire"? .
Thank you very much, Douglas! I wanted to say something about that in the original post above but it would have been a long read. Anyway, here is some background info:
Those people are assistant to our local guide and they certainly helped us a lot during our trip. They carried our supplies, tents, and my camera gear, too . I don’t know whether you read my first post about the trip or not. A part of the path to the top slid down or eroded away. They spanned ropes for us photographers to get across safely. They setup tents, cocked our meals, etc. In other words, they really worked hard to make the strenuous trip easier.
Prior to the trip, I discussed the photography concepts with their boss, our guide. But sometimes, we did certain things on the fly though. Frankly, I would rather have real native folks here wearing local outfits; female models, no matter how gorgeous they are or how beautiful their outfits, are just out of place at these locations. So, yes, the assistants acted as models, too, in other words.
The rest though, like the weather, the cloud formation, fog, lightning, etc. no matter how well the concept or trip was planned, was beyond our control, and it is more just a draw of luck. And I am counting my blessings.
