Few more shots from last week. Trying to find an alternative to the Zeiss 135/2. Brilliant lens but not a focal length I use often. Still, no replacement but I like the Rollei 135/4.
Was a little too soft and dreamy for me wide open, which I can live with. But then if I stopped down to f/2 to get some extra sharpness, I was always getting strong octagons in my backgrounds. Same with the 50/1.4 and 85/1.4. Add in some onion rings I wasn't expecting and it distracted me in too many shots. Probably unfair to judge it so harshly, probably just taking unreal expectations out on the lens.
As to 135's, thought about the ZA, but its only real advantage is AF, and I realized the LA-EA4 is a pain. They really need to make an LA-EA5 with screw drive and no mirror.

Yeah, CY 35 1.4 has a big personality, so not for everyone. I like the bokeh and softer rendering of the ZA 135 better than the ZF 135, but yeah, Sony hasn't really taken care of a-mount in sometime, and I think that trend will sadly continue. Maybe the new CV 110 will float your boat.
A few CY 35 samples. There's certainly something compelling about them. Going back through looking for these made me appreciate its f/1.4 performance a bit more.

Thank you, Robert! The hike was tough in the dark and I lost my balance on the way down but it was still worth it, I would say. As far as the lens concerned, I would give credit where credi is due...
