i used to shoot the Nocti for a long time. First on film with the M 6 than with a M8. After sitting in the vitrine for a longer time the A7R gave it new life and it is for me better than the Leica's. As good as the rangefinder is i always had problems with the Noctilux and focus.
@ Roxan: Grazie mille!
Here is a shot that shows the sharpness of the Nocti stopped down:
I also love my noctilux f/1 on the A7r the funny thing is that even stopped down at f/11, the extreme extreme corners are always blurry, while everything else is tack sharp! I guess it does not matter but I found it funny.
The noctilux is very very sharp around f/8-11, otherwise. Even at f/1 in the center, I find it sharp.
Example, 100% crop of the center, f/1:
If you can cope with the CA (easily fixable in post), then this lens is a real Swiss Army knife!
Yea, i can confirm that. The extreme corners (Nocti) never get really track sharp but it really dos not matter nor does i care. Its to be used WO or up to 1.8...
If you look at 100% the pic posted above you see the very corners a bit blurry, but that still prints to A2 very nice.
Thanks for the compliment Alwang. It's been easy to take great photos with the a7 55mm 1.8 setup. The amount of detail it captures really impresses me.
From a one week photo trip in Saxon Switzerland, with beautiful FE 55.
It's really hard to catch up with this fast moving thread with so many beautiful pictures.
So i've been using my a7 exclusively, for anything ranging from concert photography to travel and street stuff.
Overall i am very happy with the camera. Things can be better, always, but i dont think theres anything better in the mirrorless world at the moment (for me).

How do you like the Elmarit? Seems to perform quite nicely on the A7r...
I like it very much. It's one of the three lenses that I use most often (together with the CZ 35 and 55). The resolution is extremely impressive and to my eyes it's already very sharp wide open. Also, having a 90mm FOL means it doesn't suffer from the corner issues that seem to plague many wider RF lenses on the a7r.
Edit: All things being equal, the Elmarit (I have no other Leica lenses to compare it to, but I suppose it's a Leica thing) seems to renders in a cooler, more realistic way than my recently purchased CV 35 1.2 II. Not sure whether the comparison is 100% fitting, but it's a little bit like the famed Minolta G color rendering vs Zeiss ZA rendering.

Fantastic stuff. What lens(es), if you don't mind me asking?
