Walked over to little cemetery across the street from me to try out this new 28-70 FE a bit more. Super impressed with how sharp it is, even wide open, and how well it does across the frame. I expected it would need to be shot at f8-11 just to be usable from some stuff I've read on the web. Probably some of the best bang for the buck of any lens I've bought.
Also trying another adapter on my 58 Rokkor, $8 Fotga MD to NEX, pretty solid and seems to work as well as the higher end options

Isn't the APO 90 supposed to be one the best lenses ever??
Here are a few from today with my A7 and C/Y 35-70, and the last one with the FE 55.

A bunch of jumbled random thoughts if anyone is interested in my opinion:
Depends on your preference.. I like the 100 MPZE better then the 90APO-M, but the 90APO is tiny in comparison. I really just never jived with it, much prefer my 75APO to my 90APO. The 90AA APO-R has a very good reputation, so I bought it (overpaid in my opinion), and really just didn't see anything special about it (for the price). I sold it off for what I paid for it, but it's not something I'd recommend at its current price point. I find I like the rendering of the 90 Summarit and 75 Summarit, and the size is nice for an A7, but I just think at that price point, if you don't mind the size, the 100 MPZE is a more interesting lens to own.
The min focusing distance of the 90APO-M is the most annoying aspect of the lens, I think that's where the 100 MPZE has the major advantage, it's macro versatility.
Bokeh on the 90APO-M can be really amazing, smooth, very etherial in and out of focus transitions. And other times it can be flat and average. Really the type of lens that you need to change your shooting style for, if you want great results. The 75APO is more forgiving in that sense, but can get to clinical, and has veiling flare problems that can make it really washed out looking. Whereas the 90APO-M seems to have a better resistance to that kinda nonsense. Weird that Leica can't seem to get APO lenses right.. My 50APO is a disaster for veiling flare and other types of flare.
Honestly if size is an issue the 75 or 90 Summarit gets my vote (use it with a voigtlander close focus adapter).
If rendering is paramount I'd probably swing towards the 75 Summicron APO
If size didn't matter none, I'd take the 100 MPZE it's the most versatile and has the most "interesting" rendering as it varies in drawing style depending on the distance to subject.
Someone on another forum mentioned the 120 Macro Contax645, I personally wouldn't bother with that over the 100 MPZE, but for the right price, it's a damn good lens (fortunately I got mine at a better price then what you see these days on the web).
Played around with the Leica APO-Elmarit-R 100 today, which is Alpha converted, so it's my first use of the LAEA3 since I picked it up. I got some minor happy news- the LAEA3 and a7 recognized my James Lao chip, where the LAEA1 and NEX-7 never did. So the EXIF is more accurate. Small victories!
Sony a7 and APO-Elmarit-R 100/2.8 @ f/8 and a little closer than 1:3
Thanks for the info, adamdewilde!
I really enjoy my R 90 Cron, both on my 1D4 and my A7. Up close shots(close to MFD) the lens isn't too hot, but mid distance it's awesome(IMHO)! And I love the ElPro close up adapter on it too!
Here's a shot with my C/Y 28 2.8...another one of my customers house!

13.5 years later, barely able to see or hear. Has trouble getting up and down. But he still periodically checks in on me to make sure I'm safe. The best guard dog ever!

Great IQ with that lens, I wonder if I could achieve similar IQ with the FE 35mm ZA ?
I could not, thou I'm not sure what is your definition of IQ.
On focus plane FE35 could get close, but FE35 doesn't draw details same way, sure it has lots of resolution but microcontrast or something doesn't work as well.
However the main issue with FE35 is boke in challenging backgrounds are rendered very ugly (my subjective opinion). Wrote more about it looooong time ago: post #2, see photos 2a and 2b.
