Lovely shot, Danny. I grew up near Sleeping Bear and have been there many times, but you captured a unique and beautiful shot that is definitely part of the area but not what is typically thought of as the park. Excellent work, but one small correction. That isn't a barn or at least wasn't one originally that looks like it was the original house when that area was homesteaded. A very nice find. Northern Michigan is dotted with little building like that which all date back to the late 19th Century when the land was originally settled.

Thanks for the good words and info, Steve. About the small building...I don't know, but it doesn't seem to be a house...maybe a food storage building such as I've also seen in the Smokies? I don't think it had any windows other than the tiny one that you can see on the end wall. There is a definite house just outside the right side of the frame, which is included on some of my other compositions.

Yes, that is just the same as the one on my parent's farm. No windows except the one in the gable end. On my parent's farm it had been converted to a granary (i.e., a building to store grain), but it also was the original home when the property was homesteaded in the late nineteenth century. Until the historical society in town told us what it was I would never have had any idea it was a home. It is kind of interesting they built such simple buildings as homes in that day and I understand the lack of windows was because glass was very hard to come by and expensive, so most did without. Anyway, the building creates a lovely mood in your shot and evoked very much of the feeling of the area, to me at least.

DannyBurk, that's a beautiful capture. Looking forward to see more from your trip.
Derek, I always enjoy your style, both in subjects, compositions and post processing.

Most of these are taken outside our cabin in Sweden, but a couple are from walks around home.

A little debate about 16-35 and Loxia
Maybe it depend on how good copy you've got or have
I think my is quite okay ... maybe not a top ex but it performs well enough for my needs. However, I still maintain that my Loxia delivers a little better sharpness
microcontrast and colors than my copy of 16-35
maybe that it had performed a little better on the A7R II?
I used it only on the A7II in Iceland

We all have lenses, which doesn't perform as good as some others. If I want to make the weak lens photos look little similar as ones shoot with great lens (e.g. if I shoot with Zeiss APO-Sonnar 2/135 and Leica APO-Elmarit-M 2/90 on same shoot, while Leica is good lens, but nowhere close to produce same contrast or local contrast any aperture) then I spend extra time on postprocessing, e.g. adding little more contrast to subject, and "cheat" little smoother boke by applying noise reduction to everywhere else than for the subject, and then maybe adding little more local contrast (USM with high radius, low %) to crappier lens.

Great photos from Iceland!

PS. I'm envy on your "stamina"; you just returned from Iceland and you have posted already tens of pictures. Last weekend I just browsed through first time through all June/July holiday photos, and transferred September holiday photos from external hard drive to photo storage server. I'll have to find a way to get inspiration to sit in computer or I will be posting 2017 summer holidays' pictures still in 2018 summer...

Wow I have been off line for 2 weeks on a trip to outback NSW and it has taken many hours to catch up on all the fantastic photos on this thread.

This first shot was taken at Mungo National Park.
