Hmmm intrigued. I just ordered a minolta 55mm f1.7. I have to imagine it's better than my Om50 f1.4. Those look pretty sharp!
The 55/1.7 is a lens that seems to get little love, but that means it can be had for $25 or so, and for the money its great. Typical Minolta colors, good sharpness and a pretty pleasing rendering. I think its a better lens than many other 50's, even those costing several times more, and it makes a nice combo with a 58/1.2 as a smaller/lighter option when you don't need the speed.

i don't think it's the kind of lens you will like, but on the other hand it costs less than most filters. you should have kept your helicoid converted contax g45.
i really like the rokkor 55/1.7 for it's bokeh and focus fall off characteristics, it's not really a lens for people that put heavy value on absolute sharpness and microcontrast.
it's another one of those lenses that i would use a lot more if it had more than 6 aperture blades.
A couple of shots i managed to take while on a training course at the Island Sylt on the North Sea, DE

God you have no idea how much I regret not keeping that converted G45. I loved that lens. If I knew E-Mount was going to get so good...
And yes, the Rokkor 55 was $40 shipped from Keh for an EX and I have a MD adapter around so I figured why not. At the least it'll tide me over until my eventual purchase of the FE55.
I'm having a love/hate relationship with this lens. I'm not sure whether the camera or the lens is to blame or myself ha. I can handhold the 5D+135L easily and rarely miss a shot due to camera shake. Now with the A7+FE35 combo, I'm getting blurred shots even at 1/60 is it my technique or the lack of ergonomics/balance of this tiny camera? I can't say...

A7r + Canon FDn 24/2.8 (I love this lens)
I just got my new copy. The first version, an SSC version, was not good at all. Here are the first shots with one I picked up at KEH. The lens looks brand new! Most if not all were shot at f/5.6

and I thought the nfd's were always inferior to the breechlocks? So how do they compare I wonder, I'm moderately satisfied with my ssc version, center looks decent but corners are meh. Maybe I should pick up an FDn version too to compare, but I'm really tired getting lemons from evilbay.

This was my first purchase from KEH so I can't speak with a lot of authority. But if the lens quality is typically like this purchase where even the overall condition is somewhat conservative, I would gladly pay a few dollars more than the prices on evilbay!
