We're getting a lot of smoke from the Oregon/Canada fires, so I rented the 70-200 2.8 GM last night in hopes of catching an epic sunset. Unfortunately the sunset was lacking, so I took this as a consolation prize.
Joshua...nice series.
Werner...so simple. Love it.
Rene...very nice.
Ryan....I love Italy! Nice grabs.
Dale...your doorways are impressive.

I'm a little late, but here's what I caught during the 2017 eclipse, from a very clouded over northern Minnesota, well outside the path of totality. The sun was completely behind the clouds until just a few minutes after max occlusion, when the clouds thinned enough to catch a glimpse. Heavy crop.
Olympus OM 200mm f/5 at small aperture (somewhere f/11 - f/32)

Just curious, where can you rent a lens on the fly like that in the Twin Cities? The way you say it, it sounds like you spontaneously walked into NatCam, asked to have the 70-200/2.8 for a few hours to shoot the sunset, and walked out with the lens. Is this really a thing, or did you need to have this reserved and have it rented for a few days?

It was at West Photo in Northeast. I went online, saw that they had the 70-200 GM, figured I wanted to shoot from Prospect Park, and called them up to reserve the lens. It wasn't being used by anybody else, but I think they have 2 copies. I paid the $200 deposit which you get back after returning the lens, stopped by on my way home from work and picked it up. I plan on returning it today before heading out of town. The GM is $40 per day, and the f/4 version is $30 per day. I called them at 2 to reserve and had it in my hands two hours later. Couldn't be easier!

Peire,
The images from your home country are superb. Not only this set but numerous previous ones are simply amazing and I have quietly enjoyed them. Thank you for sharing. Normally, I don't comment much on this image thread but... hey, why not ? If I plan a trip to Poland, I would like to pick your brain on how to make the best out of the trip.

Ah, very cool. Never been to West Photo, I'll have to check it out. Looks like they have a good selection of lenses. Shame they don't have the Loxia 21mm! Not bad prices for renting something very short term, when the per-order over head from LensRentals isn't worth it for me. Thanks for the heads up!
