Chris, I own a C/Y 180 f:2.8. I totally fail to find any special quality to it that would endear it to its owner. Yes, It's relatively compact. Yes, you can shoot wide open, which is fast-ish. Colours and textures are nice, though nothing to write home about and with a slight cast, as is typical in older, low-contrast C/Y Zeiss. Pop is markedly absent. What bothers me most is that I am never sure whether my focus is spot on or just a bit off, because the pics have no "bite" to indicate any form of sharpness.
Hope this helps...

You should plan on going next year. I know I will be there. My father-in-law is a judge at the show and next year will be his 30th year of doing so. It would be fun to meet up. The Concours on Sunday is quite expensive, but many of cars are shown in downtown Carmel on the Thursday before the show. The first couple shots from the last set were from Thursday morning.
Wow, great! That would be fun to meet up there next year.i will definitely plan on going next year. I also know alot of places to photograph down there on the big sur coast. I almost went on Thurs. Heard it was packed with people in Carmel where they park the cars during midday.

Thanks for the explanation, Philippe. I guess that explains why this lens is so readily available and at such a low price. If it had been a better lens, I would have been willing to give it a try, but I think I'll continue looking for a reasonably priced 180 3.4 instead.
Batis 85 does football. With some cropping it does pretty well, but I guess I will need something longer as the kids get older and progress to seven-a-side and larger fields.
An image from back in the spring I never got around to processing. I have other angles of this shot but liked this one too. This is Hollow Rock on Lake Superior near the Canadian border.
Isn't there a penalty for those members who take gorgeous shots and then through their own failure to process them in a reasonable timeframe, withhold their beauty from fellow members? Well, there ought to be!!!

OK, I was late with this one. But that means 10 days late, not 10 weeks or 10 months...:-) I made 2 different crops, not sure which one I like best. Otus 28, wide open.
