How do you like the 1.4X teleconverter with the FE 100-400mm? I just bought the lens, will have it tomorrow to use on my A9? I also can use it with my a7rII and a6500 if I want crop but I do prefer the teleconverter if it performs well with the lens.
Wow you get behind in this thread and there's no catching up. I always want to be caught up with looking at all the great work before posting any pics. Today I finally caught up so I'll post a few from a concert here in Temecula area of a local band, Temecula Road.
It was early in the evening so the concert lights didn't have a big effect on many of them. When it did I went to Black and White.
Thanks, Joshua! You are right, unexpected boat. I looked for the Little Mermaid that ought to have been there as well, but all I could find was a note that said "summoned by Joshua Ong. Thanks for understanding."...

Really lovely shots, Jannik! I don't need that lens, but you are fueling my GAS!
Thank you!
I'm (not so) sorry for that, Philippe! I think you are going to love it when you decide to get it. It is not only very sharp but also LoCA-free wide open. That is a really spectacular combination.
Nice shots everyone! Here's one hour of stacked exposures from two nights ago. I took the picture near Østerild, Denmark, where new types of large wind turbines are tested.

Be interested in you opinion.

Hi Steve,
The lens still performs really well with the addition of the 1.4X TC as you can see from that and a few other images I posted previously.. As we can anticipate the degradation is more visible coming off the lens with a 2X TC but still not bad considering the reach of that combo being 800mm. I do not have any crop body to make any evaluation on it but in theory, you get a higher MP count using the lens by itself or the combo with the 1.4X TC for even a longer reach on a crop body than on the A9 but, on the other hand, the A9 has some unique features not available on the A6500. Hope this helps.

Thanks Joshua. In addition to the A9, I have the A7r.2 and a6300 as well.
Those latter bodies may be okay for using the FE 100-400 and tele converters for stationary subjects.
However for fast action hummingbird shots only the A9 can keep up with the proceedings.
Using the other two cameras is an exercise in futility and frustration.
I don't have the a6500, so don't have my own experiences.
