I just made it back from a BIF evaluation using the loaner 100-400mm. I am working on the images but in the meantime, here is a stationary target as a teaser . I walked away impressed by that lens, especially considering the way my sluggish A7r II performs.

Looking forward to your BIF. Would love some details on settings and technique as well. I was out this morning without too many BIF opportunities and light was not ideal.

Here is one of the owls that just caught a big green bug and about to devour it. He was facing almost the other way around and I begged him to turn around (of course, not out loud ) and he did for a brief moment as if he was showing off his catch.
That little Hexanon AR 40/1.8 punches well above its weight (and price), you've been getting consistently excellent results with it. I'm always interested in seeing color and monochrome versions of the same image, since it's a decision I frequently find myself having to make. In this case, I strongly prefer your monochrome version.
Joshua and Bob - Love what you are doing with the FE 100-400. I am just starting to get comfortable with this lens and now you show off the 1.4 X teleconverter. What happened to my "No new lenses!" resolution? At least I am immune to the A6500 attraction. I have some sales resistance.
Werner - I never tire or your excellent shots! You have a great eye.
Samuli - As always, I appreciate your technical insights.
Here are a couple more shots of beautiful Norway. The first is with the Canon EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM Metabones IV combo and the second shot is with the trusty FE 24-70 GM.
