Thank you for the feedback. I guess this is about personal taste, which is fine of course! I love the style/effect, but hate post processing (besides, you can't really get the same effect in post processing - it'll be "too perfect"), so for me this lens is great. I have found some groups for this type of photography, so maybe I'll post over there in future. Anyway, I have gotten a little tired of "straight" photography and feel a need to experiment.
Only to clarify everyone, more than Helena that I'm pretty sure understood exactly what I meant, my words were only to express my opinion in regard of that lens and not a criticism to Helena work&choice... As said, it is a matter of taste and effects returned from this lens and from Lensbaby seem to me a kind of PP that I don't like. That's all...
Sorry guys but I'm not a "Yes man" so I prefer to be frank. Probably next time I will stay aside
Good pictures everyone!

Thank you all! I hadn't expected this much support/encouragement.
Like some of you suggested the effect is best for old stuff and for "soft subjects" such as portraits and nature, and it'll be hard to get something good in an urban environment. Perhaps a scene with light and shadows could work (these lenses love light). I'll try it some time, and also smaller apertures for more contrast. In the mean time you'll have to suffer my experiments. Anyway, if we have to worry about "gimmickry" and certain subjects being off-limits it'd all feel terribly restrictive and not fun at all...
Btw. maybe I should clarify that I'm not at all bored with photography, I just feel an urge to expand and try new things
Since this is a picture thread, here are some more from the Monolens (I went a bit too close on the peony and missed focus - should have used my close-up lens but was in a hurry):
Helena,
Keep on doing what you are doing because you are very good at it.
You are one of 5-6 photographers on this thread whose photos are instantly recognisable to me
which simply means that you have your own style. And having his/her own style is what every photographer would like to develop.
Gregg -- Congrats on the basketball net shots! It's a pretty mundane subject, but you have made it striking and startling in its beauty. Well done!

Actually took out the rig for a walk last night. Trying not to shoot while I'm working on all our Kauai pics. But I had an itch that needed scratching...
Helena...I personally love ALL your styles. From sharp to dreamy! And I totally understand about the "straight" photography....

A7rll and Contax 28 2.8
A few "architectural" images from the Getty Center using either Loxia 21mm, FE 12-24mm and CV 35mm f/1.2 Aspherical. The first 3 images were taken at the "sweet" aperture range setting but the last one was at f/1.2 just for kicks, focusing on the statue at the end.
So I picked up a A6500 since I liked this new 100-400 GM lens and how well it works with the 1.4 x teleconverter. I also purchased the Meike Battery Grip for it and I have to say it makes a huge improvement in hand holding the A6500 for me especially with a larger size lens like the 100-400 GM. I'm really liking the results so far and without the 1.4 x teleconverter it makes a nice 600mm f/5.6 lens with it a really long reaching 840mm f/8 lens. Not going to be a great low light performer but in good day light this is a very nice combo. Here are a couple at 600mm focal length equivalent cross posted from the 100-400 GM test thread.

And I enjoy Werner's artistic impressions of Tuscany ... both in b/w and color.

It's been so hot these days that I'm revisiting some old shots from the archives, and taking a stab at product photography indoors (I'm new to this whole flash business).
Another image from downtown LA after dark but this time using the lowly 35mm f/2.8 lens. Seriously though, any lens at r/8 will generate virtually the same image quality. The light streak near the top is courtesy of a helicopter.
