So a couple months back I sold my C/Y 35-70, wasn't using it much but definitely missed it. Got to thinking though, I'm more of a 35mm shooter, so I'd love a short zoom centered around 35 rather than 50. After a bit of searching, enter the Nikon Ai-S 25-50 f/4. First trip out I was luke warm, but took a walk around town and this lens started to show its strengths. It's distortion is minimal and mostly simple (though I do see some mustache at 25mm, but just in the very corner.) Sharpness is good and rendering is pretty pleasant. 9 straight blades makes sun stars possible but it will also flare, so have to tread carefully. Definitely going to explore it more....Show more →
Interesting... from info learned here, iris should be 7 blades BTW great set and new material for GAS sick like me
Thanks for sharing!
Apologies, I confused myself and you are correct that its 7 not 9.
Thanks, it's a pretty good performer and worth a look. Don't know if it has the C/Y magic, but the focal range is better for me anyway. Good luck finding one.

So many amazing shots! The "like" is my best friend
Trying out my Batis 18mm... I wish the MF were more intuitive and lens barrel were not so fat... The last one was shot with smooth reflection app, 16 shots at 1/50 each.
Experimenting with the Canon 300 F/4 + 1.4 TC. Not quite loving it, but definitely usable for slow moving critters. AF is wretched, so it's MF, hand-held goodness all the way down!
I also had the ISO Auto Min SS set to faster, which gave me a faster shutter and less potential motion blur from shakey-hand holding, but much, much higher ISO than necessary (forgot I'd set it and was wondering why the camera was shooting at such high ISOs. Anywho - lots more noise than I like in many of these).
Lovely, Werner. I got such a nice surprise when I quickly turned my phone from vertical to horizontal orientation and discovered the figure standing in the doorway.
