I would really like to test that Zeiss 1.4/35 for a while its bokeh is really special, but damm are they expensive.
yeah, it can really produce the most beautiful portraits. i got mine reasonably cheap, but it has scuffed up elements and seems to have developed a really floating floating element – changes position depending on gravity rather than focus position. i need to get it serviced, but it's one of the few lenses i'm afraid to open up and work on myself.
Caved in a picked up an FE 55...Here are some ofmy first shots with it. I like it so far...very smooth bokeh. I'll have to test it against my R Lux 50.

very nice! how do you feel about the cv 21/4?
Thanks! As for the CV 21/4, it really doesn't work well with the A7. Center is OK, but corners and edges are a bit of a disaster, both heavy vignetting and smear. It wasn't all that great with APS-C, so you can imagine how it is with a not particularly well-behaved FF… Really a shame, because size and mechanics are very nice.
