I can recommend the Zeiss ZE Distagon (or ZF, depending if you have an other Cam Nikon/Canon) 18/3.5 with a Metabones Smart II adapter. It is much smaller than the famous 21.
I would not go the M-Line of lenses, well maybe the CV 21/1.8....all my tests with WA M lenses failed.
The (in this shot) used Nikkor 15/3.5, i had it for 30 years and it was sitting in the vitrine on an F4.
It works really superb on the A7R, has almost no distortion but is prone to flares, it collects light from everywhere. But it is real fun to use such old lenses you never thought you would...
Werner, thanks for the advise.. the Z 18 is sure high on my list, I got the Z 21 and find that 21 mm is not my best way of viewing things so I may exchange it for the 18 mm.
I just hope that I don't sacrifice much of the 21 mm goodness for the 18. On the M side of things, the Zeiss 18 and CV 15 seems a very risky proposition.

I know the feeling! I did just happen to buy the FE 55, though! Want to see how it compares to the R 50...and I thought I would try AF on the A7, too!! Some of the images taken with it look really nice...

some people ain't to crazy about the FE 55 bokeh.. how do you compare it with the lux? I have an M mount Zeiss 50 f/2, so no more 50's for me..
Sony rumors just announced the a7s; apparently coming with 4k video and maybe the a6000 autofocus speed.
I think this was kind of a burn for the rest of us who bought the Sony a7(r), it's only been a fee months and a new camera. Hopefully we get a new update soon too!

I think one of the best UWA lenses is WATE / Leica Tri-elmar 16-18-21/ but it´s bloody expensive. All pictures here on this thread with this lens was superb without any problems and it has a nice sun star too

a lens that I love, I own both the MC and MD version, which is your own? the edges look pretty clean, right? which aperture you consider best to avoid problems with the Rokkor 24mm?
i love mine too, it's the 49mm filter thread version. always was curious to compare it to the MC version.
i really like f/2.8 – f/5.6 for things close up. the field curvature necessitates stopping down to f/11 or f/13 though for flat subjects or landscape that is all at infinity.
Shots like this are why I got an A7: I was having trouble nailing focus on a DSLR WO with lenses like the 58/1.2, which are fast, sharp, but a bit low contrast.

We don't know the specs and you're already saying it's a "burn." Best guess is the A7s has a 24 MP sensor. If you would prefer the 24 MP sensor in a to be announced A7s to the 36 MP sensor in your A7r, I don't understand why you paid the extra money for the A7r over the A7 to begin with.
