Jack: I'm always impressed with how you manage to get such amazing colors out of those files.
Manuel: Wonderful compositions on those landscapes.
Werner: Stunning lightning. I've taken the freedom to follow you on flickr.
Bob: Amazing colors. I was wondering, did you end up keeping the 24-70 GM or have you gone back to being Optimus Prime?
Ronny: I don't know any more adjectives to describe those impressive shots from Lofoten. They might be even better than your amazing work in Iceland 1-2 years ago.
Rene: Beautiful (early?) spring shots. We're still a few weeks behind here. I will admit, though, I like your monochrome shot from the previous page even better.
Joshua: Wonderful portraits, but then again you, Werner, Ronny, Bob and a few other highly talented members here are just incapable of taking bad pictures, right ?
And now, it's time to lower the quality of this thread again .
FE 70-300 at f8; Edit: I'm not sure whether this composition/framing works in this shot. I'd thought about zooming in closer to get make the ships larger, but that would have reduced the soft lighting effect and cut out the drift ice in the foreground.
Has anyone else noticed that the flare you see in the viewfinder on the A7 series dissapears when you take the shot? I think it has to do with the shutter, because when I switch to electronic shutter, all the flare shows on the images.. I haven't got any before/after shots, but this one is with electronic shutter enabled.
Thanks, Jack. I have DXO Filmpack, but I don't use it that often, as I find it often goes over the top as far as colors are concerned. Sometimes this adds a nice effect, but often I find it a bit too exaggerated. I'm looking for something slightly more realistic/natural.

Sorry for my question... in which way SR app could be useful in captures like these? Thanks.

When it's very dark and you want to reduce noise as much as possible.
In the Pantheon there is semi-darkness, all lights passing through the oculus.
So my experiment was to underexpose by two stops and later recover detail in the lightroom.
Manuel,
Not sure my theory works.
The recovering capabilities can be seen in a number of shots taken by Fred Miranda and other to smooths of water or clouds movements.

Open house at the Trondheim theater yesterday. Hard to take photos though because it was absolutely packed and I have a cold, so I didn't stay long.
First two are from CV 15/4.5 III VM (I rarely use this lens, but its sharpness, all the way to the corners, is impressive), #3 Lensbaby Sweet 50 and #4-6 CV 35/1.7 VM.
Could you use a tripod in the Pantheon and St.Peter ?
Cheers
Werner
Werner,
One cannot use a tripod in the Pantheon nor in St. Peter's. Not even in Piazza Navona and many other places.
There is extremely tight security control when you enter the St. Peter's Basilic these days; worse, or better, than at
many airports.
However, I was allowed to bring in a mini tripod, just 12 cm long. Took a central seat in the second row of benches for worshipers. Put the mini tripod on the top of the backrest of the first row, got on my knees and prayed.
Used the same strategy in many other places in Rome, but without praying.
One day you will tell me how you get those incredible pictures from Tuscany.
Cheers,
Henryk
Must get extension tube set again .. unfortunately I sold them along with my other Contax lens
