FE 1.8/85 has just arrived. Rolling Review starting soon. So far the lens seems to be at least very sharp although I can see some purple fringing and some ghostings.

Dale! Not only is this superb, but that is the last lens I would have thought of to shoot flowers! Hat off to you!
Thanks! It is literally the last lens I thought to use on flowers. My wife had suggested we take pictures of birds and then at the last moment changed her mind in favor of flowers and I was caught with only a single lens. Now I know that the lens provides an interesting and heavy option for flowers. I am amazed at its sharpness! I have spent my whole life with low cost telephotos and this is a constant surprise.

Ha! Dale with only one lens! It sounds just as funny/unlikely as saying Philippe with talent. Ha!
Philippe, you are not only a talent, you are a teacher and a constant source of encouragement. My challenge is laziness. That is why I often have only an single lens with me for a day of shooting. Speaking of single lenses, here is another single lens visit to the "Painted Desert" at Petrified Forest National Park. A7RII with Leica WATE

Philippe, thank you! I cannot imagine the details you did get with the Otus + extension tube
To change the pace - here is an image I took at the Valley of Fire (some 45 minutes north of Las Vegas - thank you, Adam (snappy)) A friend of this girl was taking her pictures and politely I asked whether I could also take a few shots. Both said yes and so I did. After some 12-15 images or so, she asked me whether it would be OK for me to take her picture while jumping from a rock. She was wearing a long dress but she had sneakers on. Well, here is the result. It was all good and fun.

Great shot! Looks like the 24-70mm GM makes for a really good 35mm lens. Bokeh even looks very nice at 36mm. I'm seeing a lot from that lens in your shots - speaks very well of it's usability. Got me thinking.

This lens and Lightroom make a great combination, IMO.
Thank you, Jim! The Loxia 35mm looks great in your hand - excellent image!

Thank you, David! Well, yes, the GM is a really superb performer and being a zoom lens, is very flexible. And yes, to a certain degree, it can replace 2-3 prime lenses. We know all that, however, in Venice, I used that lens only twice, when I was on the gondola taking pictures of a model and at night on tripod when I just needed a single lens without the opportunity to change lenses. For the remaining 3.5 days, I only used fast prime lenses.
Jannik...thanks for the review(in advance)! I plan on checking it out tomorrow.
Joshua...great shot!
Ronny...super super stuff last!
Jim...nice house!

Thanks Gregg! Nice road -- good travels to interesting places.
Here's another nice house in Aberdeen, in early morning light, robins on the chimneys. (You see a pattern developing here?)
Once I got the Loxia in hand, I seldom used my other lenses -- enthralled without ever knowing for certain things would turn out right. Fear's over now.
