Love the shots you are getting from the Contax G 28
Thanks! 28mm is my favorite focal length. And G28 might become my favorite 28mm assuming new techniques like Kolari v4 or front filter will overcome the issues caused by very high ray angle plus Sony thick sensor cover. If you look the MTF, at f/5.6 the sagittal and tangential MTF lines are almost identical. This usually means that boke is good. Also the 10lp/mm and 20lp/mm are very high contrast all the way to corners. Even 40lp/mm is very high in central area of image.
I checked the MTFs of other Zeiss 28mm (except Otus), and I have also shoot with all of them except ZM28 - this is from my usage perspective which is <5% infinity focus large DOF stuff and >95% photos which have focus plane and boke stuff in them:
C/Y Distagon 2.8/28 not usable on standard thick filter, but excellent with Kolari v2 except outer corners which seem to find random distant stuff in focus
C/Y Distagon 2/28 haven't used with Sony, but on Canon boke is all over the place like indicated by the MTF - I did not like this lens at all.
Contax G Biogon 2.8/28 boke wide open pretty awful (as MTF indicates) but gets pretty good @ f/4 and really good @ f/5.6. Super contrast on focus plane, low contrast on boke.
ZM Biogon 2.8/28, would be interesting to test this lens in real life but I would assume I would hate corner boke based on MTF, tangential and sagittal go opposite directions, more or less making 100% sure that boke will be awful in corners.
ZE/ZF Distagon 2/28, nice lens for f/8-11 landscapes - awful lens for boke shooting; lens has natural outward field curvature and astigmatism, when combined with A7 thick sensor stack these issues are even worse. Kolari v2 enables to get similar performance we got with Canon 5DmkII, but the "native" outward field curvature makes this lens not usable for me.

Tired of images from Venice? Here are two from Vegas during a recent and informal session then
Absolutely not.. I'm really curious to see what I missed I was thinking to post some images from last year as a very good memory.
Here another image from Yosemite so you can see what you have missed
This morning there was a very brief explosion of color during sunrise. It literally lasted only a couple of minutes. I ran down to the lake and without gloves (It was 5 degrees F) and captured a few quick images. Then I realized I shot these in jpeg instead of raw. However, the colors and intensity of the colors are real. Moments later, it was overcast and gray.
Super grab fantastic grabs this whole page!! And I mean everyone! And every image!
Bob...can't compete with the colors, but here's one from last night while still working.
