Still in Yosemite and the rain is steady. Lots of frustrated photographers hoping for horsetail. Sounds like a good movie title (Hoping for Horsetail). Anyway, took Fred's advice and tried to do a bit of shooting mostly with umbrella in hand. Internet at the hotel is ridiculously slow, so more later. Here are the first two I managed to upload. First one is Lower Yosemite falls and is a three image stack with Leica R 180/2.8 apo at F5.6:
Next is Loxia 21, heavily cropped (rain got too heavy to do anything much shortly after this image). Fred did say moody black and white....ND filter and SR app:
Really lacking in artistry, just a few snaps from my tour of the research vessel "Falkor" yesterday. A friend of my wife spent a few weeks on the ship studying plankton in the Pacific, landing in Portland yesterday.
The shipyards would have been an awesome place to wander and take photos, but it also was not a place we were allowed to wander and take photos.
The bridge. Yes, that is a giant ship in two pieces in the background. It is under construction. FE 16-35 at 16mm f/8
The wet science lab - for doing things with water and sea life samples brought up. CV 10/5.6.
Bulk crane unloading equipment from the ship. Giant cargo ship the "Alaska Navigator" in the background on the left. CV 10/5.6
Hello Joshua,
I have stopped praising your photos because any complement just sounds banal.
But how do you get these incredible results? Are you ready to reveal your secrets?
How do you process them?
Best wishes for now.
