Excellent! Is that Wilder Ranch? If so, I'm pretty sure I saw some massive waves today hitting those rocks you appear to have been standing on. Didn't have the guts to go near them today. For example, one that hit some nearby:

A good cheapo will be as good in those aspects as an expensive one. The lenses themselves sets the limits - if you're not unlucky with a decentered etc adapter. Defects can come both cheap and expensive - though higher risk with cheapos. For Leica many/most lenses 35mm and below will have issues with smearing, color cast etc independent of the adapter.
There is a nice Voigtländer adapter with helicoid that adds close-up/makro-like capabilities to lenses. Currently I use a midpriced "branded" adapter (~50€ "KiwiFotos") which is fully suffice and doesnt add any defects to my M-mounts.
I have followed wfrank´s recommendation and bought a Kiwifoto Canon FD-NEX adapter and it is definitely a step up from the cheapest ebay adapters. Infinity focus is spot on, the fit is tight. My cheaper adapters in most cases focus past infinity. I have a Leica M-Nex adapter from Kiwifotos on its way.

hey thanks. Mine was shot at the 4 mile beach last weekend. Tides were lower than usual.
Those are some big waves in your pics. Nice shots !
HI everyone - first post in this thread. I'm a refugee from the nikon manual focus thread. Just got the A7R and enjoying trying all the nikon manual focus lenses on it. So far, they mostly perform well. The only duds have been the 28mm f2 both the ai and ais versions. Lots of aberrations and they're never quite sharp at any aperture. The 28mm f2.8 ais is great on the Sony though.
This is one from yesterday with the Voigtlander 90mm f3.5
