Some shots from today. My wife wanted a hike so we we hiked Devil's Courthouse and Graveyard Fields on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Then finished at Cowee overlook for the windiest conditions I have EVER experienced! It was 43 degrees and must have been at or close to hurricane force wind up there. It was bad enough that my glasses were blown off my head and I had to chase them for about 50 yards! I was afraid the wind would blow over my tripod so I had my pack weighting the tripod AND my wife held it to make sure it did not blow over. I did not even stay for the afterglow as the conditions were just so difficult and my wife and I were frozen! Changing lenses necessitated getting the camera and doing it in the car! Probably should not have bothered but I just did the Loxia 21 and 50:
Anyway, here are some shots: First, from Devil's Courthouse with Leica 28 Summilux:
Next from Graveyard Fields with Loxia 21 (I know, lots of sun stars in these images. I promise to try to branch out....
Next the sunset in the wind (check out the grass in the foreground of these shots!). First two Loxia 21:
Loxia 50 (too bad about the flare):
Finally another Loxia 21 (really regret changing lenses due to missing some of the changing light):
A couple recent shots around the Seattle area from the A7II. Second one from the lens I've been wanting for a long time and finally acquired; the 55/1.8.
SFA, All very appealing, and informative of each lens. The better FD lenses have a relaxed, rich film look to their images, lovely. The old 55 - when you get it right and that is often - it's very satisfying. A high hit rate lens.
#1 below is ISO 80 and f4.5. You can almost feel the brick dust, wall texture. #2 is also low ISO and f2.5. For city work, you can often get this well-composed, cool slick look. Truly a fine rounder. [I'm also excited I got my 35-70 tuned up for next outing, now there is a luscious landscape or built environment lens for you.]
