Bob, i have to blame you for spending again ...., this is the first shot with the Noctilux on the Techart AF adapter(way less then MFD).
Because of your postings, read the whole Techart thread and bought it. So far i am impressed. The Nocti feels like on steroids with AF. All my old glass (Trioplan,Biotar, Rokkor, and Petzval, Leica R and M lenses) will be on AF, for an old guy with bad eyesight a relief. Great to overcome MFD on these lenses with just one adapter.....
Great work of everyone here, bravissimo !
Cheers
Werner
Werner - glad to help you spend your money! AF with the Noctilux is incredible, isn't it! I feel exactly as you do. While I don't have the legacy glass that you do, I am interested in finding more. And yes, as the eyes get older, having AF on quality glass is a godsend. I've converted my Contax 35-70/3.4 and 100/3.5, Leica R 28 and tomorrow should receive a Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4 ZM. More to come as well!
So I walked in to an electronic store, just wanting to see what they had as far as cameras go. Was really looking to add the Panasonic GX8 to my m43 stable (as a secondary camera for my Olympus E-M1). Instead I found their last Sony A7 (first generation) on display. Apparently it had been on display about 18-24 months but it looked new and they had reduced the price to about 800 USB including the 28-70 kit lens (which I REALLY don't like). Checked the shutter count when I got home and it turns out it has never been used. In fact it has never been turned on I think as the battery was still wrapped in plastic in the box.
Had to buy it at that price. And apparently I can test it for 30 days and return it if I don't like it.
So testing has begun
Biggest reason I've been wanting an A7 has been my legacy lenses, although not a large collection it's still fun to finally use them at their correct crop factor again.

my mother-in-laws husband, Juan Carlos followed me out shooting one morning...
After dusting off a few lenses, I had to snap a few shots using the Techart AF adapter. My 4-year old grandson that cannot stay still was the model. Except for the ISO and shutter speed, the exif below is off. The lens used is a Leica-M Noctilux shot at wide open f/0.95 and it would be hard to pull something like this off without the continuous AF feature since he is so active, even when sitting down.
Joshua, awesome shot! I now regret having recently sold my M 50 Nocti f/1.0
Thank you, Charles! The rendition between the f/1 and f/0.95 is somehow different. I would rather not go into that here. I had the f/1.0 years ago. I sold it and bought the f/0.95. A few months ago, I got close of selling this one, too. You always can buy it back....for less even maybe . Like Warner mentioned above, the AF capability and a shorter minimum focusing distance brought about by the adapter, makes this lens like it was on steroid.
