For a change I went out of the house with just one lens and on foot. I was rewarded with a splendid after-the-rain sunset and some fog. Autumn is really getting closer and closer. After traveling for some time were I took loads of pictures but usually in a hurry it felt great to slow down and just enjoy the evening.
A few pictures with the Voigtlander 10mm that arrived today. Nothing brilliant but enough to persuade me that the lens is going to be fun. It is the VM mount version, with a Techart Pro adapter. This seems to work fine, though sometimes I find it hard to hit the focus point, and even wondered whether the tolerances on the Techart were not good enough and stopping me reaching infinity. But a few more shots and I began to get things into focus. Not sure what I did wrong first time.
It is certainly useful having the level with this lens to avoid distortions!
In an earlier post I showed some pictures with the Voigtlander 10mm VM lens on the Techart Pro adapter. I have now worked out the problem with this combination. In autofocus mode it works fine, but in manual mode it fails to get infinity focus. If the adapter is parked fully extended, it is too thick for infinity focus; if it parks not extended at all, then it is too thin. I guess that with longer focal lengths, the difference between min focus and infinity is large enough to cover a slightly short adapter, but with the 10mm, the travel is so small, that this is not possible.
The problem is, if I buy a regular dumb adapter, are any of them precisely the right thickness to get infinity focus at infinity on the lens, or do they err on the "safe" side by making them slightly too thin?
But fortunately the Techart Pro works well enough with autofocus, and the depth of field is so large, that I may well find that I can easily manage without manual focus.
RE: The Techart adapter - you can use F45 to park the adapter at its "present position".
So, AF such that the adapter is at approximately the middle of the range, then switch to MF on the camera body, and snap away.
So many magnificent venues, with great captures. Kudos to all.
Traipsing around a county park this weekend, and came across a shrine(?) to someone's loved one, left adjacent to a local monastery.
Joshua you make the 85 shine. Love the softness of the dress and how sharp the eyes are of the models. Your Vegas shots make it seem like the place to go.
Gary great image with the 16-35 of the lake
Chris what detail in your Voigtlander 10mm shot.
Phillip your shots with the 58 1.2 make me want to take mine out for a one lens walk. Not sure I would get the same result but definitlely inspired by yours.
Ronny and Werner as always stunning
