last day of 17 in Italy, mostly in Sicily.
had a skip the line early morning tour of Sistine Chapel.
advantage: few people.
dis-advantage: guards can seen who is trying to sneak a photo.
was reprimanded a few times.
grabbed a few. haven't had a chance to review much, but here's a quick snap:
Couple snaps today hiking with my bride. Was carrying a bunch of lenses including a long lens in case we saw some wildlife No such luck. Here are a couple, hand held, with Leica 280/4 apo with 1.4x extender on A7r2. Somewhat unconventional subject matter, but using the long lens enabled me to avoid trampling some fragile vegetation...It is definitely spring in the NC mountains...
Ronnie, just love your world you revel in with your shots! Amazing captures...
Jack, great images !!! I have loved your series from China.
Thank you Gregg! Very nice series )
Helena, great series of shots! Your subtle artistic style gels well with rendering of the CV 35/1.7 and 50/1.5

Charles, the SR app opens up a new realm, almost like getting a different camera, huh? The files are more malleable, are richer in color (to me), contain more tonality/gradation AND less noise. Great image!
In a similar theme of arrangement, here is a fresh, in more than one just one way, piece of art made completely out of freshly harvested real veggies and yes, flowers, too.
Thank you Joshua You are right about having a completely different camera with the SR app, and the applications are endless. I am finding the RAW files behave very differently and are a lot richer in depth, color and I really like using the Lab color space in PS to increase the color saturation and contrast. When I had my M9, I used Lab color space a lot then before Lr/PS had caught up. The sharpening technique also is very different and maybe because there is no noise present when the sharpening algorithm is being pushed.
I love your shots with the Batis 18 No more lenses for me now...!
^^^ Charles, first thank you for inspiring comments. I still do remember a while ago lurking through your images from Thailand and wishing to accomplish a fraction of what you posted. Great, timeless captures. Thanks!
And now with new technologies photographers have more opportunities to amaze. All sort of combinations; legacy glass, new apps, better sensors, you name it; all for our viewing benefit Please keep posting.
Here is a 'bigger' picture of the beach at Jokusarlon. I'd been working the gems on the beach and in the water, looked up and saw Poof strolling among them and the proverbial pot of gems at the end of the rainbow. We just got back from Pyramiden so I've been slacked trying to work up pics via the laptop; and at this point in the trip sensor dust has become a nightmare-
Leica R Vario Elmar 28-70/3.5-4.5 - good/very good lens, sharp when stopped down to f8,well built, but I can't see famous Leica glow in the pictures.I'll let it go.The 35-70/4.0 is significantly better. Here on the A7 and f11,somewhere in the middle of the zoom range:
and wide open at about 70mm:
Legendary first Leica/Minolta R zoom - the Elmar R 80-200/4.5.As above - good/very good, sharp stopped down to f8,nicer,more Leica-like colours than the 28-70,but I got a copy decentered at 80-100mm,so will let it go as well.
Coupled with the A7,at 200mm,wide open:
and at 80mm,f11
Tokina ATX AF 100/2.8 Internal focus 1:2.The first AF model, just after 90/2.5 MF bokina and before current 100/2.8 AF ATX has come.
Very good/excellent lens.Sharp, contrasty, smooth bokeh, little CA wo.Behaves like bokina and I presume it may have the same optical construction, despite slightly different "arythmetical" parameters.
Taken with the A7,wide open:
Coming to an end - as usual - another abandoned castle on the way back from work - A7R+Nikkor AFD 24-120/3.5-5.6

Jack, thank you very much for the kind words

Thank you Charles! Yes, I'm very happy with my Voigtlanders. When I can find the time and energy I'll try and sell the Loxia 50 and a couple of other lenses.
A few days in Stockholm always generate a lot of photos for me, but these are the last I think. A7 and CV 35/1.7 VM.
Photo taken the evening of April 16, 2016 about 32 minutes before sunset looking at some of the buildings at Lock Ridge Park (the site of an old Iron Furnace works), Alburtis, PA. Image taken with my tripod mounted A7r M V3 and my Zeiss 35mm f1.4 Distagon ZM lens. ISO 400, lens set to f11 for 1/160 second. Processed with CornerFix and LR6.
