Thank you friend .. you too kind
On other forums I see people arguing about the merits of the 100mm Makro-Planar and how its not that great for many different reasons... and the first thing that always pops into my head is your name and your beautiful images. In my opinion, you are a master with this lens. I also realize that not everyone is capable of achieving the results you get, but I think that in some people's cases its because they're more busy giving their opinions on the internet (like me right now!) than actually shooting photos.
Anyway, I always look forward to seeing what you're doing.

Thank you
100MP is a great lens... have some CA wideopen.. but it's sharp wideopen
can be difficult to put focus on longer distance
Biggest drawback for my type of work is it's only 1:2 magnification and that it extends
I use in most of my macro pictures with 100MP extensions tube to get better magnification
downsides is the weight and size on A7-R with adapter.. but I can live with that

Finalizing my gear selection for Costa Rica and yes, I will take this lens for sure.
What lens is this...the Canon 400 DO II with a 1.4 TC? How is it AF-wise on the A7RII? I used to have one of those (a mk1) and have been looking for an excuse to buy one again....

Yup, that's a Mark II with 1.4X TC Mark III via Metabones IV - the AF of that combo is not bad at all but still I am not sure whether it is up to the task of following birds in flight. I will try it out that combo at a more AF challenging location this weekend.
Here is another image from Vegas. Even with the sun in the frame, the lens, Zeiss Batis 18mm didn't show any lens flare at all. But, yes, the sun was partly covered .
