My thoughts too. I've been intrigued by that lens, but since I own the Art 35/1.4, I am familiar with the size/weight.
I would have expected Joshua to be more interested in the Batis 18
Your photos of Stockholm are truly stunning. The 3D rendering of the C/Y 35/1.4 sends chills down my spine, as I just bought one off of eBay yesterday to use on my A7ii. If I can deal with the size of the lens, I'm sure that I will have made a good choice.
You might be able to find a 24-70 and have it shipped to you in Yosemite. There is a post office in Groveland you can have them hold it for you. I taught 6 workshops in Yosemite and I have done this more than once. Lol
Joshua. More wonderful shots. You're killing me with these 24-70GM shots. It's quickly become the next item on my shopping list.
You didn't happen to try out the 70-300G by any chance?
I'm about to head out to Yosemite on Friday and am really annoyed at the timing. I was hoping I'd have the 70-300 at least by then (but that doesn't seem to be happening now).
And I would have loved to have the 24-70 as well.
Oh well. Next trip.
On a separate note, and to agree with you both, that CV 35/1.7 is special. I'm sorry I sold mine. i'll be re-purchasing that one ASAP...After I'm done with my current list:
- FE 70-300G
- FE 24-70/2.8 GM
- FE 35/1.4
I've finally decided to go all in on the FE lineup (after bouncing around with a lot of adapted stuff).

Thank you very much, Nadim. Yes, the IQ of that GM zoom lens is exceptional and there are files from this trip that rendered almost like medium format.
I may have to contact Sony to ask them for a pre purchase loaner of the 70-300mm G lens. I am not quite ready to fork out more $$ since I just bought a Batis 18mm .
Enjoy Yosemite!

What's this 20mm lens you're using on these shots, Joshua?

Got to be the Sigma Art, right? It's the only 20mm f/1.4 lens on the market afaik.

Yes, it is the Sigma Art lens. I bought it before the Zeiss Batis 18mm was announced. Actually, I had that lens with me when the friendly Zeiss folks hinted of the Batis 18mm in Vegas about a month before the announcement.
My intention was to use that f/1.4 lens as starscape lens between f/2.0 and f/2.8. As it turns out, that lens is actually fun to use, even at wide open. And the IQ is surprisingly high, too. The price of that lens is half that of the Batis 18mm and the weight is at least double than that of the Batis 18mm. But there are situations that I really don't care about those factors. Instead, I put the fun factor of that lens really high in my book and I just focus on that .

Joshua, you have big time GAS! Love what you're getting with the new GM!
Guilty as charged! Yup, the never-ending quest of GAS! Thanks for your kind words, Bob. The way I look at it though, at least, we are using our gear rather than merely collecting our gear, right?

I don't consider it "GAS" when you back up your purchases with such stunning images!
More like "Outstanding Image Acquisition Syndrome" -- the compulsion to get the best shot possible, whenever, where ever.
Photo taken October 18, 2015 about 36 minutes after sunrise, Big Meadows, Shenandoah NP, Virginia. Image taken with my tripod mounted A7r and my Leica M 90mm f2.5 Summarit lens, ISO 200, lens set to f11 for 1/80 second. Exposure corrected by +0.24 Stops and processed in LR6.
Wonderful pictures everyone! This is a really inspiring tread.
First picture is a 4 picture panorama made in Lightroom taken with the Loxia 50 (first time I tested the function in LR). The second picture is taken with the Loxia 21.
