Charles, great shots with the GM. I know you otherwise shot with the Canon 85L but I was wondering if you have tested the Batis 85 and if so, how would you compare? There has been some opinions on the differences but I love the Batis. I have to admit, shots like yours make me want to try it out . . .
Thank you Bob I did have the Batis 85 until last Friday when I sold my B85 when I picked up the GM 85. The Batis 85 is a superb lens. The Batis 85 has more micro contrast, can appear flat in bright sun light at f/5.6 - 8. In lower lighting and near wide open the Batis the rendering is wonderful. It is smaller and lighter so it is a fantastic choice. Your shots with the Batis 85 shows how the lens excels with graphics and design.
I was going to keep my 85L II, but after a few days of testing the GM 85 does everything I need. So in essence the GM 85 has replaced my 85L II and Batis 85. To date I had not been happy with any one lens since I replaced my 75 Lux and the GM 85 is just better than all my other lenses to date. I have a feeling it is not just the lens but the combination design of the sensor and optics that finally gels.
The rendering, color richness/tonality, focus fall off and micro contrast is similar to the ZA 135/1.8
