Impressive images on this page! I need to stop thinking about that 24-70 G Master.
These shots are from a short walk in the desert this morning. I looks like everything is yellow in this phase of Spring. A7RII with Tamron SP 35/1.8 and Sony FE 90/2.8 Macro.
First morning with the GM 85. I love this lens just for the ergonomics alone.
++ Having a dedicated f stop ring
++ Short and squat design for a f/1.4 balances very nicely.
++ Ease of AF and MF, important for a 85mm lens for critical points of focus. 95% the AF is accurate.
++ Having eyeAF and accurate and fast AF is really important.
++ The colors and rendering are very similar to the ZA 135/1.8. The GM 85 seems to draw colors from scenes very much like the ZA 135.
++ Stopped down to f/5.6 the lens is very sharp, but without losing the feeling in the rendering. In my shot below there is incredible detail at 100% right across the frame.
-- Only negative is there appears to be production batches with noisy AF. As I did yesterday was to test my GM 85 before leaving the store and exchanging for a Batis 85. The Batis 85 is a brilliant lens, just I think the GM 85 is better
I have to agree a portrait lens would have been better....using what I had
Sony ILCE-7RM2
70-400mm F4-5.6 G SSM II
ƒ/8.0 75.0 mm 1/2000 1600 Flash (off, did not fire)
Beautiful work with beautiful specimens.
Didn't the FE 90 displace the 55/1.8 as sharpest not only in all of Sonydom but also 2 of the sharpest in the world? Two best them (Otus) and maybe one other....I'm not sure. Regardless beautiful work.
Well, this is the week that I dip in my toe and join the society of Sony FF owners. Yes, I know it's taken some time -- waiting for used prices to become more affordable, as I continue to maintain product lines in Canon and Nikon.
Faced with the daunting cost of purchase of a 5Ds/R as the most needed to maintain my Canon lenses, or adding a D810, which isn't that much of an improvement over my D800e, the logical choice seems the original Sony a7R to mount my Canon lenses (especially TSE's), as well as explore my various manual focus lenses, and dabble in Sony/Zeiss native lenses for the brand.
Today the a7R arrived and I started right in checking it out, using two inexpensive Sony lenses: 28-70 OSS kit lens, and the wonderful 28/2. Additionally, I tried one manual focus lens, the FDn 50/3.5 macro.
I'm impressed with the imaging on all the lenses, even the kit lens for what it is. The 28/2 is really pretty fantastic. And the 50 macro is no slouch. That was it for today. Maybe his weekend I can try the Commlite and Fotodiox AF adapters for some of the Canon lenses, especially the TSE's.
It's nice to finally join the party after seeing so much impressive work presented here by so many talented photographers using the Sony FF's.
I'll start with a few from the humble kit lens. Mostly shot wide open to get a feel for the weakest areas. All hand held, quick run & gun style. PP in LRCC.

Welcome to this group!

EDIT: Jim, I made a mistake... Welcome to this MAGIC group
Previously, I couldn't post any images here unless I was training a friend with his a7R2, then PP them for him.
Here are five quick shots with the Sony 28/2. The first two are shot wide open, the last three at f/5.6. Really nice performance, and the files are very suitable for LR manipulation -- as everyone here already knows!
