Photo taken October 1, 2015 at 8:12 AM looking across Heart Lake (Lake owned by the Adirondack Mountain Club), Lake Placid, NY. The moon can be seen near the top just to the right of center. Unfortunately at the posted size you can not see the raindrops on the Maple leaves or the conifer tree. Image taken with my tripod mounted A7r and my Minolta CLE MC 40mm f2 M-Rokkor lens. ISO 100, lens set to approximately f11 for 1/13 second. Exposure corrected by +0.71 Stops and processed in LR6.
Just returned from a 6-day ski tour in Berner Oberland in the Swiss Alps. The weather was not very cooperative with white out conditions most of the time, but the last night the sky cleared up. Wiew down Lötschental from Hollandiahütte, 3240moh:
Gregg, is this your ultimate 50?
You know Dale, I've come to realize that I need to enjoy what I've got.
It was my first trip shooting something not during the day in awhile, and while I do miss f1.4 for those types of shots, the Loxia surprised me!! And the fact that I was able to hand hold these down to 1/8th(thank you A7rll IBIS) does make f2-2.5 much more usable!!
So...to answer your question (with much wind and tap dancing)....yes. Being able to get very sharp images at infinity @f2-2.5 is pretty cool as well.
Gregg
Ps...but I'm always on the lookout for other 50's!! My buddy has my Voigt 50 1.1 in Vegas and Sedona this week though....

Just wondering how you would feel to start shooting that Nokton 50/1.5 at night handheld again. Different look from the Loxia but also wonderful!
EDIT: Something strange is going on with Flickr. These were 1500 wide but Flickr made them look 1024 here. Then I re-uploaded them in 1600 and now theyre shown at that size. Anyone else having this problem with Flickr?
