Today I got the Sony GM 85/1.4. I can't do any serious shooting at the moment since I have a 3 week old baby at home. Only a few snaps during a walk with the stroler.
My initial impression is that the lens is sharp in the center already from f1.4 with only a small degradation towards the edges (based on 24MP images). Bokeh is very nice and smooth. I haven't been able to create any bad looking bokeh so far when shooting at f1.4 - f2.8. Worst issue so far is the SLOCA(?) visible in the second image.
In my opinion, the price is slightly high but the performance seems to be better than Nikon 85/1.4G which I've used a lot in the past.
All the shots are with Sony A7II. I haven't used any profiles to correct vignetting or LoCA.
I planned to include some crops but Flickr downsizes all my 100% crops. Any ideas how to avoid that?
^^^^ Taz...how in the hell did you get a pheasant to stand still while you shot it!!👍🏻
Just looking at the images on my 6+, but the bokeh looks pretty amazing to me!! Wow!

Gregg,
Great shots with the 35-70 Contax. You are going to drive the prices up on that lens!!!

Haha!! This is my 4th copy the over the years. This last one is by far the best, AND it was the least expensive out of the 4!! And it just works SO well on the A7rll w/IBIS!!
Wilhelm, what is so overwhelming about the 100-300 is the lack of modern digital 'drawing' to the images. So much depth and that lovely CY color palette. It may just be the most three dimension lens - certainly a strong contender! It is almost the lack of anything but image content to look at, that surprises. So thank you.
Here, two from a lighter relative, the CY 100/3.5 (a7r). It's the easiest lens for people, shoot wide open and focus, that is it. No back and forth, the image clarifies in the EVF first time, every time.
Went to test out my new 10 stop ND filter on the sunset tonight. I'm really excited to use it more. I had to push the raw file quite a bit to recover the foreground.
