Charles, thank you very much! Your images using that lens are excellent! The rendition of that lens and your PP are truly unique. I have played with the idea of selling that lens but each time, like last weekend, I used it and I fell in love with it all over again. It is my first Sony A-mount lens and it is currently the only Sony A-mount lens left. I sold 5 or was that 6 others already.
Thank you very much Joshua The ZA 135/1.8 will be a hard lens for Sony/Zeiss to redesign in a FE mount. This lens has a certain magic dust in medium to low lighting and often when colors are not apparent, the ZA 135 just brings them out beautifully.

Congratulations, and thank you for your service to the country. I hope you got a chance to fire the gun...that would have been a real kick.
I've been wanting to do more Astrophotography both timelapse and star trails. I use a Miops trigger which requires using the micro USB port on the camera and so I needed to rig an external battery to power the camera for hours at a time. Mike Ganz and I have been pouring over options trying to find the most efficient/cost effective approach.
Well, I bought a dummy battery (ebay/China) for the Sony alpha cameras and an external battery with a 9V DC output (straight USB is typically no more than 5V and does not power the camera with the dummy battery in the camera). Last night I had skies that, while not really as dark as I would have liked, allowed me to play right at home. The rig worked wonderfully resulting in this star stacked image below. 90 images at 30 second exposures stacked using StarStax. An artistic image this is not . . . but it allowed me to see how well this rig works.
I also included a simple pic of the external battery powering my A7rII. I forgot to grab an image of the entire ring on a tripod . . . next time.
Photo taken October 1, 2015 at 9:51 AM looking across Heart Lake (Lake owned by the Adirondack Mountain Club), the Adirondack Mountains, Lake Placid, NY. Image taken with my tripod mounted Leica R 180mm f3.4 Apo Telyt lens and my A7r. ISO 200, lens set to probably f11 for 1/125 second. Exposure corrected by +0.12 Stops and processed in LR6.

Looks really good, as well as promising, Bob. I'll be giving my set-up a go in the very near future. To every problem, there's a solution.
