A Lone Cypress. I missed the aperture, but fortunately the FE 55 is razor sharp!

OM 50 f/1.4 on Sony A7

On flickr

To be honest, OM 50/1.4 is the best performing lens on A7 I have seen so far. Absolutely sharp even wide open and beautiful bokeh.

As well as a fair amount of vignetting.

Which other lenses have you seen on the A7 so far?

Because Sony borrowed me some awesome lenses and because of the FE 2470 I have neglected my manual ones, I had forgotten what a great lens the Canon FE 80-200L is

That's true, however 50/1.4 does not vignette much, and it's almost gone by f2 and easily correctable in the Lightroom (unlike my OM 24 f/2 which vignettes heavily). There also no color casts, which I like, although a
bit of resolution loss in the corner. This is the behavior I seen with all my OM lenses, excluding maybe 90/2.

I have tried 21/2, 24/2, 28/2, 50/1.4, 85/2 and 90/2. Frankly, I like all of them, but my favorites are 50 and 21. Those produce outstanding images for things I like to photograph.

90/2 is the sharpest of all by far and does not vignette at all and is great for macro -- not so much for people except certain situations. It also works really well with the 65-116 extension tube in the field.

I also have a 28/2 OM Vivitar which produces surprisingly good results for close up and landscapes (it's very sharp at f/5.6 and higher) on my E-510. I have not tried it on A7 yet, though.

I'm also a fan of the OM 21/2 so far, though the aperture ring on mine is a bit hard to turn. Image quality is lovely, and the thing is tiny.

Very nice Noodlz. CY28 is a neat combo w the A7.

And yet another impressive page by all.

Continuing the BW theme, A7 + Samyang 14/2.8

wfrank, very sharp! Which version of the 14mm do you have and did you have to try multiple versions to get a good one. Is the distortion correctable using light room? Have you tried the the 24 mm? Thanks for putting up with all these questions but at this price point they have to be asked.

Thank you wfrank, you really know how to make use of the 14mm, lovely b/w. I love the rendering of the CY28/2.8 .. a very trusty performer!

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.

Dennish, I have the worst possible combo. A Nikon version with a Canon adapter (thin ring) and then a Canon-to-emount adapter. I'd trade it anytime for a native emount.

Thing is, for those interested in the Samyang, that the distance scale is always wrong - or at least it used to be when the lens came to the market. What you wanna do is to check where the optimal infinity focus is and mark it. Then you just set it to F/5.6 as in this indoor case and then just point and shoot. In a case like this (with some support, leaning over the fence here) usually 1/20 sec and ISO will be reasonably low. It'll work.

No correction here. Could be handy for straight line building shots and I know "PT-lens" have something on the subject.

Thank you for the info, it helps greatly. The Amazon version over here is called a Rokinon FE14M-E F2.8 which I presume is the same thing just re-branded. I feel for your predicament with the adapter because right now I'm using my Nikon 14-24 with the metabones adapter which makes the combination unwieldy at best. It's like carrying a small car around with me in my camera bag. From what I can tell the Samyang will be less than half the weight and about 2 inches shorter than this combination. The tests that I saw on SLRgear are quite spectacular and consistent with your beautiful results. Thanks again!

I snapped a few pics with Phillips 24-70 the other day as he was testing the other lenses. I think this one is the only one that is (slight) showable. I can't blame the lens though... After shooting only primes for the last years, i may have forgotten how to function with a zoom. I think the variable it introduces confuses me... or smth.
Anyway...
