Here is another favorite mask during the Venetian Mask Carnival, Anna Garusi.
The 35 1.4 really shines in your hands, Joshua. Sony should have offered you a pre-copy of the 85mm 1.4 to use in Venetia instead of letting less gifted photographers use it to take pictures of models in weirdly colored settings .

Wow Joshua, where do you find these people?! Ha. Great image!
Thanks, Brett. It was during the Mask Carnival in Venice, Italy. I happen to know a few friends that participate on a yearly basis since this is my fourth one . So, they are posing for me and a few shooting buddies of mine in more private sessions.

Thank you, Chris! Well, I wouldn't say no to your suggestion .
Nope, shots for images. We became good friends and although the event is in Italy, they people in mask come from all over the world. Most of them though, believe it or not, come from France. Too bad the weather was not cooperating with us this time around and a few sessions got cancelled. As you can imagine, they costumes will get damaged when get wet. Well, there is another event next year .

Hey Gregg - Love what you're doing with that Contax 45. I miss mine. Wondering if you're using a dumb adapter or one which brings AF to the Contax g series? If the latter I would be interested in what you think . . .
Photo taken at 9:33 AM, June 27, 2015, Mount Desert Island, Acadia National Park, Maine. Image taken with my tripod mounted Leica R 100mm f2.8 Apo-Macro-Elmarit lens and my A7r, ISO 400, lens set to probably about f4 for 1/125 second. Exposure corrected by +0.12 Stops. Processed in LR6.

Hi Bob,
Thanks...
Neither actually. My G45 has been converted to M mount. Although mine focuses bassackwards, similar to Nikon. I know some conversions focus work just like normal() lenses! But oh well, it's still a stellar lens...And being able to use it with my VME adapter is pretty cool as well.

Ah, yes . . . I forgot about the VME adapter . . . very nice!
Some beautiful light again this morning. Here's one with the Loxia 21/2.8 and Voigtlander 35/1.7

Trying out a new lens today - Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM - on a7R II. Seems impressively sharp and clean, but has awful OOF rendering (not worthy of the term 'bokeh'). .
This was supposed to be very good lens, OOF look pretty awful. Does OOF/boke improve if you close down 1 stop? Or is it optimized only for close distances, and large distance boke is awful no matter what you do?

Yes it looks terrible in every instance, Even with close subjects the OOF is looking terrible. Today I will be testing the lens on a Canon body (5DS R) and seeing how that works.
