Went to a lake nearby yesterday to try out my new Voigtlander Nokton 50/1.5. Even at noon the sun touched the tree tops and at 13:00 (1PM) it was already behind the trees again...

I did. Eventually I realized I wanted a native wide angle, and I couldn't justify the price on the 35/2.8, and I didn't want something super huge (or the cost) of the 35/1.4. While the 28/2 isn't perfect, it's a pretty good lens for a reasonable price and it's somewhat versatile. I'm going to add the 16-35 soon and after testing it the past few days, I'm going to get the Metabones and EF 70-200/4L for my telephoto zoom. Quality is excellent (as was known) and AF speed is quite good on the new firmware...almost native speed in good light. Buying a used 70-200 will let me net that combo for around half what the FE 70-200/4 costs. I may also then add the EF 85/1.8 or 100/2. I was going to go for the Batis in this range, but for the price of the Batis, I can get the 70-200, the adapter and the 100/2. Seems to be the way to go. If the PDAF wasn't good, I'd go another route, but I've been really pleasantly surprised. ...Show more →
Very cool, I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts on the 70-200/4 EF. I thought about going down that route before, and used to quite like that lens when I shot Canon ages ago. Its either that or keep watching Ebay for a deal on a 70-200/4 FE version, which I've seen get down to around $1200 or so.
Heard the Nikon AF adapters might be showing up, and given I already have a ton of Nikkor glass, might be yet another option to go. Would be pretty cool if I could use my 200-400/4 again, and pair that with all the cropping resolution the A7rII has.....
Sony has created quite a camera system..... Never could of imaged having options of Sony native glass, Canon EF glass, possibly Nikon G mount glass, and that is all on top of the countless legacy MF options

Canon FL 55/1.2 This is wide open. It was a complete new design, 1968, and is really something, even today. I paid 110USD
I own the FL as well, an interesting lens! Recently I've been experimenting with the dot that's near the f1.2 marking that makes the aperture blades come in very slightly. It affects light transmission in the center only and doesn't affect metering at all (camera will read identical exposure between that and wide open just with a slightly darker center), however it improves performance a lot! The glowing around the subjects decrease significantly, and it makes it much more usable. Bokeh hardly decreases, and light transmission is mostly the same. Just a tip for using the lens, it has made me enjoy it much more.
