Beautiful shot. What do you mean by "shaved" Samyang 8mm?
Thank you, Lucas!
It's the 8mm f/2.8 CSC Fisheye II without the lens hood. It is possible to have a 180°+ view on a full frame sensor without the hood although there is a black vignetting on the left and right side.
The advantage is that nearly the whole milky way can be captured in one single shot. Spherical panorama are also possible with just a few shots.
I can recommend that lens without hesitation. It is tack sharp straight to the edges and the chromatic aberrations are on an easy fixable level. It has a very low amount of coma already at f/2.8 what qualifies this lens for astrophotography.

Does the vignette require a large amount of cropping? I had the f3.5 version in EF mount and used it on my 6D but had to crop quite a bit... I'm worried that doing so on the a7S would cut away too much of the resolution from the image.

It looks like that uncropped:
So yes, you have to crop quite heavily, depending on your chosen aspect ratio.
There is also a 12mm f/2.8 fisheye that works well on the whole full frame image circle, but that's twice the size.
Photo taken at 2:38 PM, October 20, 2015 near a Trail Head Parking lot not far from Skyline Drive, Shenandoah NP, Virginia. Image taken with my tripod mounted A7r and my Minolta CLE MC 40mm f2 M-Rokkor lens. ISO 400, lens set to probably f8 for 1/100 second. Processed in LR6.
