Got the Novoflex CY->NEX adapter today. In a league of its own in both price, and quality.
I was eager to try some CY Zeiss lenses with this beautiful adapter so went out on quite a grey gloomy day in the end-of-day dim blue light.
I thought these Zeiss lenses did nicely on the A7R. This sensor seems very forgiving with regards to CA, which I've seen with some of these lenses on m43 and APS-C.
Thanks! This lens does extremely well and is a nice compact solution. I like my Zeiss 21/2.8 ZE Distagon even more but for a minimalist package, the Oly gets the job done nicely.
Considering this is f/2.8 boke is quite bad, for example ZE series Planar 50 you could not lure out this bad boke at f/2.8 no matter what you do. Almost all of the boke issues I have with this lens are in situations when background has stuff overlapping on multiple distances. Planar surfaces (straight, tilted, whatever) seem always display pretty ok boke, so like FE35 this is great lens for urban shooters; urban scenes very rarely have stuff overlapping on multiple distance like branches agains forest further back in "forest photography" do. Otherwise boke is close to perfect, if one doesn't care minor issue of background boke contrast edges turning greenish.
Otherwise rendering is so nice and strong, the infocus part really jumps out from the picture.
Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 1.8/55 FE @ f/2.8, 1/50s, Sony A7r @ ISO 100
(Post processing otherwise my normal = no adjustments, but as A7r has issues with really bad color errors on photo edges with FE55 radial filter was used to remove magenta tint)
