A few pics from Mount Wilson above LA. The first is the backrange behind Mt. Wilson (San Gabriel Mountains) and the second towards DTLA/The Ocean with Catalina Island in the distance.
Sometimes I pine for a 50 Lux ASPH. But then I remind myself what I read in Puts: where does the 50cron (not APO) beat the 50 Lux ASPH? F/2 close in. That surprised me. I sometimes hear remarks, "oh that 50 cron is not so sharp WO", and when I get out past about 25 feet, wide open, and I never seem to "get it" but if I stay closer in at F/2, it smokes.

Is this along the Columbia river gorge? I think I recognize that tunnel.
yes, those shots are just off the historic highway by oneonta gorge (a narrow gorge that leads to the columbia). i actually didn't recognize the tunnel. i grew up in the area and was used to going to the gorge and waterfall before they opened the tunnel in 2009. i drove past it and didn't even recognize it now that they opened the tunnel and have done a better job of marking the area.
here's some pics through the gorge looking at people heading towards the waterfall.

rokkor 24/2.8, the dude below spent so much time on his phone pic that he looks pretty crisp in a 1s exposure:

I love the variety on this thread. Great images, interesting places, inspiring techniques.
Grosvenor Arch is a unique sandstone double arch located within Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in southern Utah. It is named to honor Gilbert Hovey Grosvenor (1875–1966), a president of the National Geographic Society, publishers of the National Geographic Magazine. (Wikipedia)
One of the things this thread is so addictive is that not only the pictures are great, I can also see a very diverse collection of pictures around different parts of the world. Thank you all for sharing.
