Derek, this lunar eclipse pic is one of the best I've seen
thanks! it's a bit of a cheat, the landscape was taken with the g90, but the exposure was to long for a good moon shot so i took a separate moonshot with the rokkor 500/8 and downsized it till it was just big enough to cover up the moon blur from the longer exposed g90 shot.

Agnostic...The Kiron 28/2 seems like a decent lens! Nice images.

Thanks! It's Vivitar branded, probably Kiron or Komine I guess. I've had it for a while, got it in a lot with a Canon AE1 and some Canon FD lenses. It's pretty beat up cosmetically but optically and mechanically it's still fine. I hadn't actually bothered shooting with it but I was pleasantly surprised when I took it along today
if the vivitar 28/2 is the "close focus" version it is actually komine made as far as i know. i have the lens as well, it's a good performer especially for the price. better close in than far out though.
I carried both and the 85 Otus. I love the size of the 28/2 and it seems to render nicely. I turn on the a7r2's OSS and I rarely needed a tripod.
I had a sunrise timelapse going with the a7r and 16-35 while I was out wandering with the other two lenses. It wasn't much of a sunrise but it was nice to have both cameras up there.
These all handheld and uncropped with AIS 300/2.8. I'm having to much fun with this nikon beast. It's a very bad influence. How bad? I ordered a AIS 500/4 from Japan last nite....... OMG.
Just wondering if you have ever shot the Contax N mount 85mm F/1.4? If you have how does it compare to the ZA85mm?
Thanks
Andrew

After I posted the image of that little girl above, I found another image of her looking straight at the camera. Again, taken at wide open and the shallow depth-of-field renders only the close eye to be in sharp focus, while the other one is a tad soft. Still, I like that image and that lens is seriously capable of generating good images at wide open.
Again, I am not here to question the optical performance of the Zeiss Batis 85mm. Frankly, I would love to get my hand on it when it becomes available next month but the more I look at the images I took using the Zeiss ZA, the more doubt creeps in that the Batis would be a worthy successor for yours truly. If I didn't have the ZA, I would buy the Batis in a heartbeat for my portrait needs. And this only my personal opinion and I am sure not everyone would agree with me. At f/1.4 the ZA is a slightly faster lens and from my experience, it doesn't have any problems being used at that speed for a smoother bokeh or shallower depth-of-field, if that's what you are after.
Although the rendition of that little girl's eye is fine and it is sharp but at her young age, the features are not too contrasty and yes, she didn't wear any make-up either . So, I went back a look for an image of an adult for a little contrastier rendition and here it is. Both are full size first and cropped later. I hope you are not tired of my post related to this more than just once ....Show more →

This is with the Rodagon 35/4. I can get to infinity with it on a 12-17mm extension, but I didn't really want it for infinity. I want it to what the Summilux doesn't do very well, and that's close-up shooting. So it's on the 15-27mm. This is about as far away as I can be and keep things in focus. First is wide open, second is f/5.6. It's not as well corrected as the APO's, but it's not bad.

Yes itīs very good at close range, much less so at longer range.
