Photo taken the evening of August 26, 2015 about 8 minutes after sunset from the top of the Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA. Image taken with my tripod mounted Canon new FD 500mm f4.5 L lens and my A7r, ISO 200, lens set to about f11 for 1/80 second. Processed in LR6.
I will not be posting for about a week as I am trying to get out of here later today to go up to the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Mountains near Lake Placid, NY. Color is supposed to be behind the usual schedule when this area is normally at its peak the last week of September to the 1st several days or week of October. Will see conditions once I am there and possibly to elsewhere for part of my trip that is supposed to be closer to peak.
I have recently been quite impressed with the images I was seeing from the Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM. When I had the opportunity to obtain a used copy here on FM "Buy and Sell" for less than $300 I decided to give it a try. Since I am a manual focus shooter I was happy to get by with a low cost Commlite adapter which does pass through EXIF data and aperture and shutter control when the lens is switched to Manual. The Canon lens has a large well placed focus ring and works very well with focus peaking and magnification. While my goal is to use the lens for portraiture, I didn't wait to try it out around the yard.

Awesome shots everyone! Love the lunar images!
Contax Carl Zeiss Planar 50/1.7 Back in the forest. This is quite near home but for some reason I have never been on this trail before. It is like a miniature rain forest, very narrow, caught between a mountain and a lake.
Really liking your recent shots with the Planar!

I've had the camera for about a month now. Been using native glass as well as Canon and Voightlander.
I shot 8o portraits yesterday with the A7rII and the Batis 85. Now I shot these at 7.1 but I also was in crop mode so effective 127mm I believe . Now when I say I backed off a ton of sharping , clarity is negative 12 and structure minus 6. Im knocking this down a lot. Still a laser. Her lips look the sharpest. I was using Eye AF

Dale, wow, that Canon lens is giving the Batis a run for its money . At a fraction of the price of the Batis, it is hard to resist..

Dale, you are a Fire GAS Man ... please stop every time you suggest a "new" lens, looking at your results, it is very difficult to not open another tab to search for some good bid
