However i took it out for a trip to the countryside this weekend and now i'm not sure.
Possibly the light that morning was just great but the images makes me question my decision to go for the Batis 85 instead...
Aaarghh.. Decisions decisions, it's a lovely lens and the rendering and colors (yes i know most below are b&w) are great.. It's not the sharpest but..
But eye focus... With Kids... I love it on my 55..

hmmmm not liking that bokeh on a couple of those petzval shots at all......Shots are nice but the rendering is...somehow odd
I agree, but that's to taste... it is ' different ' (odd or 'unique' ) in any case...
It is a lot of fun, at least to me, to use these "crazy bokeh" lenses, but besides the fun i try to find some way that makes at least a minimal sense in these shots... not sure to succeed...
Been enjoying everyone's contributions immensely but have not been contributing - my bad! Here are a couple taken with the FE 24-70. The last one has 3 stitches. Dave

I like it. Either it has to be zeissy soft or as crazy as hell imho. Crazy or 3D-calm, nothing in between :-)
I've barely shot in the past two weeks. I've been insanely busy at work. Grabbed this shot quickly after my daughter's gymnastics class. A7II with Contax G 90/2.8:

What would you do :-)? ?
If funds permit keep both. The 90 Cron is a magic lens that works as well on the A7's body as the M240. The only issue is longer MF lenses is that the DOF is very narrow and for portraits capturing the magic moment can be hard work. If your style is slow paced portraits or landscapes the lens is great.
The only caveat is that I have found with the A7rII that with wide open aperatures the DOF of field with lenses like the 90 Cron, 75 Lux and 50 Nocti f/1.0 appears to be even narrower than with the M240. I suspect this a perception, as the central area may just be sharper and the fall off seems more steep. This does affect the ability to nail your focus with these lenses on the A7rII as you have to be accurate. This effect may be real and I don't find the roll off as smooth as on the M9/M240 due to the design of the sensor.
In truth, if you have great lighting just about any lens will shine. With the Batis 85 for portraits, I am sure you could capture very unique moments. I am still waiting for my Batis 85, but with my Batis 25, I set AF on ZONE, and AF-C and face recognition and it is amazingly accurate.
