Nice shots Phillip. Do you like the FE 16-35?
Yes I do. I Reviewed a loaned 4/16-35 some time ago and the performance is very good. There are a few issues like ghosting and a large size (for an FE lens) but all in all in is a very good lens.
I think the price is a bit too high, at least for a student like me. But Amazon.de had one on offer for 999€ on Prime day (normal price is 1249€) AND they also had a 10% rebate on Sony FE lenses running. So I got it for 870€ which is a very fair price.
Where I live there are no grand views so it sees not that much use. On a trip like the one to the Saxon Switzerland it's flexibility and wideness is worth a lot though and I was very happy to have it with me.

Thanks. You got it for a great price!
I currently don't have anything wider than 25mm. Now that I'm going on a trip to the US next month the FE 16-35 might be something to consider. I'm more used to Zeiss ZE/ZF primes (and their optical performance), but maybe it's versatility and lower weight will make up for the differences in IQ.
Photo taken the evening of July 16, 2015, about 8 minutes before sunset looking at a Corn Field toward the sun along Loch Valley Road, New Tripoli, PA. Image taken with my tripod mounted Leica R 180mm f3.4 Apo Telyt lens and my A7r, ISO 100, lens set to about f11 for 1/200 second. Processed in LR6.

I've shot a range of stuff with it since, and am mostly very impressed - very compact and light (220 gm), none of the glow of my old FD 35 F/2 when used wide open, and nice out of focus rendering. Central sharpness is noticeably ahead of the FD all the way up to about F/8 from wide open, although the corners don't sharpen up quite as fast or as far as they do on the FD. The most disappointing aspect is that I'm getting a slight magenta cast around the periphery, although it corrects very easily with a radial filter preset in LR. And I'm really appreciating using just one adapter with the Heliar 15, Ultron 21 and Ultron 35. Here are a few samples...

Thanks for sharing! Is your FD 35/2 the original FD or a New FD? I recently switched from the FD 35/2 SSC I (concave thorium) to the New FD 35/2 and have been pretty happy with everything about it but size and the occasional veiling flare. The New FD 35/2 is pretty impressive - no glow, quite sharp, and contrasty right at f/2. Other than my Contax G 45mm f/2, it's the only f/2 or faster lens I have that is this nice wide open.
I'd love to find a smaller fast 35, but this will do in the mean time. The New FD is pretty light (245g), but I wouldn't mind a more compact lens for something like this. I can definitely see swapping my Contax G 45mm f/2 for a 35/2 if I can find something with similar wide open properties (no glow, good contrast, good sharpness) that manages to be around the same size.
Black and white has never really been my thing, but I've been using it more lately. I started shooting in the B&W creative mode, especially at concerts, as a compositional tool - it have been useful in helping me see the interplay between light and shadow.
I had intended to process my recent B&Ws as color photos, but I find myself prefering the B&W versions for most. I generally like the Sony B&Ws JPEG more than what I get from LR, at least on initial conversion. LR seems to take some tweaking of the color balance to get something more pleasing.
