A few more samples from a quick walk down the road.
This is my only keeper from a few shot with my converted contax t2 lens. I'm not sure if it's because its so tiny or because of me being new to the camera and not knowing how to best hold it to avoid shake but i'm not getting sharp pictures with this lens, even at relatively fast shutter speeds. This shot is wide open at 2.8, there is a small bit of flare that runs through the mailbox. On close inspection there is vignetting and some smearing i think
The 50 lux is a stand out on this camera. Does show lots of CA wide open but hey thats to be expected. Both of these are wide open.
Anyone use any Contax G lenses on these cameras? I was considering getting the 45/2 and 90/2, but I have a few questions. I know the 45 is a favorite among many people, but I haven't heard much about the 90. The 90 is so lowly priced on ebay, I suspect it's not too popular. Is manual focusing these AF lenses annoying? I heard it's like grinding gears. Does anyone have any experience with the MX Camera's model 2 AF adapter for Contax G?
Contax G 45 works excellent on the A7 (tested and posted @ FM, corner sharpness excellent). And anything above 45mm should be just fine. G35 is currently a dark horse, G28 looks bad from what Ive seen so far.
Some find focusing annoying, I dont. I have used G21/28/45 and some 90 on the NEX. Gears differs between adapters. I have a KIWI (mid prize) which is much smoother than the 1st generation cheapo Chinese I had before.

The Sonnar G 90 is a great lens. If you don't fancy manual focus with a 'gritty' adapter ( I didn't like the experience ) why not try a C/Y Sonnar 85/2.8 which, while being almost a twin brother of the 90.G in performance and rendering, has a real and well damped focusing ring ?

I just tried out my g90 on my brand new A7 (not r). In short, it's outstanding. Tiniest bit of vignetting wide open, and razor sharp from f/4 down. As an added bonus, it seems the manual focus ring on the adapter is easier to operated on the a7 vs the NEX bodies, probably due to the slightly bigger body and extra grip. I use a cheap Fotodiox adapter for it.
When I first got my g lenses, I worked the focus back and forth with a fair bit with the adapters, and they seemed to loosen up a bit. I don't find them particularly tough to focus, and feel the g90 is still a real bargain!
These are as close as you can get in almost every respect, performance wise. The CYs are as artur says, a pleasure to use. The G lens is a little cheaper.
