I have the silver 28/2.8, 35/2.8, 50/1.8, & 100/3.5(silver/black), the Canon 50/1.5 was high on my list, as was the 35/2, 50/1.4, & 50/1.2 but I think I'm going to focus on other brands for now.(like Fujinon, Topcor, Simlar(Topcon), & Nikkor.
I was definitely impressed with the 35/2.8 at the top of page 30, that my A7r & NEX-7
plays nicely with it is a bonus.
The 100/3.5 is a nice small short tele.
The 28/2.8 has lots of vignetting on my A7r, but if you are looking for moody, this is it.
The 50/1.8 is kind of boring to me, though I haven't shot it on my A7r yet because...
To be honest I think I love my Topcor-S 50/2 LTM.
I'm really looking forward to my 50/1.8 Super Rokkor.
I am just loving this thread. Really wonderful photos posted. Basing a future purchase on just the dollar value of the A7 vs. the A7r, I would have thought that the A7r would really be "the ultimate". But after seeing so many clear and wonderful shots with both units, I am really starting to understand how very different these camera bodies are. Wow. Who woulda thunkit?
And thanks for the constant reminder of just how important the glass is. Oh my!
Now stop posting beautiful photos, all of you! Don't you know you are forcing me to upgrade?!!
Got my first Leica-M lens, the Leica Summicron-M 50mm f/2 (serial 301####), was expecting a lot from wide open performance and boke quality (I have also Summicron-R 50 E55 and it's only serious fault is very crappy boke quality). But it seems that I have just one more f/4 lens... boke quality doesn't get good before f/4 in my typical shooting environment. Also focus plane stuff contrast & field curvature makes me prefer f/4. However I find the results @ f/4 very enjoyable, so it's not total failure.
Maybe someone can answer this. I've searched on here and google and couldn't get a 100% answer. How does the Voigtländer Ultron 28mm f2 work on the a7? I was considering a prime kit with this lens and whether it works with the a7 determines which camera I will go with.
Hi, I can't tell you about the ultron exactly, but normally it behaves similarly to the 28 Cron. My guess would be it's decent, but not fantastic. The 28 cron is actually very usable on the a7. For landscapes you're going to want to use F8 or F11. But, though the lens has some smearing at wider apertures it's not obvious and you can make quite beautiful images wide open.
I would be using the cron often on my a7, if it was not so incredible on my m9
The Tron would likely be even better on the A7S
PS
I looked around on the net, and it seems the ultron is actually better than the cron. Meaning, on the a7.
Well I was between the a7 and a7s. I owned the a7 previously I liked it but not as ni uh as my dslr. I want a smaller kit so I was considering another a7 or a7s I was leaning more toward the a7s because rangefinder lenses seem to work better on it.
I've also thought of an m9 since they're coming down in price. I've always wanted one I know it's a different shooting experience than Sony.

I bet you would love the A7s, which seems to play well with many many RF Wides :-)
