Kookaburra, a type of Kingfisher native to Australia (this particular breed anyway). They have a very distinct song that is often referred to as a laugh

Charlie: thanks for sourcing these interesting images. Looks like Ashwin's on a tear with his new Sony... in one of his Flickr images there's an M with the 50AA... here's hoping he has some samples of it on the Sony...
I find the barrage of criticism of this thread and its OP unfair. A7 and A7R have generated a huge appetite for pictures, especially to gauge how they fared with RF lenses. Conversely, this led to many disconnected threads on the same topic, costing me as a viewer a lot of time, and offering relatively little information relative to a lot of opinion.
So the idea of having a thread where images came from many photographers and sources, with many RF lenses, and no comments, struck me a particularly welcome, all the more as it took/takes Charlie a lot of time. That he did not get about it in the best way was unfortunate, but he has now corrected it.
